I got to see him live in 1983, opening for Rush(!) on the Grace Under Pressure tour. Huge impact on this (then) high-schooler. His later blues work included possibly the best video we have of Albert King with a decent band. He was a gateway to the blues for me, much as SRV was in 1984 when Texas Flood came out. Digging into those deeper roots had a huge impact on me, as I later backed many blues legends out here on the west coast.
I remember *exactly* where I was when I first heard the opening line to "Still Got The Blues". I wanted *that* tone. Now my Gary Moore signature Les Paul means that much more. RIP Gary.
