If your "top" toggle switch is in the up position (piezo only), your "bottom" toggle SHOULDN'T make any difference in the sound whatsoever. If you have that "top" toggle in the middle position, then all pickups are on and the "bottom" toggle will indeed change the sound. Also, be sure you're plugging in to the Piezo/mono output and NOT the magnetic/stereo one (this output does NOT allow for the piezo pickups to work). And. . . That piezo system is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!! Especially when using an acoustic amp and an electric amp using BOTH outputs!!!

Even when the piezo toggle switch is in the up position the magnetic toggle switch still alters the sound. I tried to adjust the bass/treble/mix of the piezo and I made the sound much better than what it was when I bought the guitar, but I'm still sort of confused as to why I'm in piezo only mode but I can still alter the sound with the magnetic pickups.

I went to the Guitar Center in Towson, Maryland.

Could someone please explain to me how the piezo/magnetic switch works? From what I understood there were three options, magnetic only, magnetic/piezo blend, and piezo only? It seems that when I'm on the piezo only option I can still switch between the neck and bridge pickup to alter the sound. Am I completely confused here?

Go to this link here: YouTube - Using the Piezo Pickup Properly

It helped me understand the switches on my JP6 when I first bought the guitar. Btw Beautiful instrument. I saw one at GC in San Jose. Very nice color. The neck is a work of art too.

Hey Grifff,
Which output are you using??? Sorry to hear you haven't sorted this out yet. On the bright side I'm sure it's something simple and minor. (loose wire on the upper toggle???) My fingers are crossed for ya. You have me mighty curious now.

I'm using the mono output.

I can turn down the piezo volume with the piezo switch in the up position and I can still hear the sound of the magnetic pickups.

It seems like the middle and the up positions on the piezo switch do exactly the same thing, the piezo comes through as well as the magnetic pickups. If I turn one down, I can clearly hear the other on both the middle and the up positions. The bottom position seems to work as it should; only the magnetic pickups can be heard.

Check the wiring for that upper toggle my friend. If you're not sure, have GC look at it. Let me know how you make out with it. Once you get this sorted out, you're gonna LOVE LOVE LOVE that guitar!!!! :D

Griff- something is up with that switch. Your video indicates that it's not properly grounding the magnetic signal in the "piezo only" setting.

Please contact MM customer service- they'll help you sort out a fix to this. Shouldn't be a major thing. (FYI, they're closed on Fridays.)

Thanks! I'll probably just bring it back to GC to see if they can just fix it on the spot or maybe just exchange the whole instrument since I'm well within the 30 day exchange policy.

Perfect. They are the first line of defense here. If they can't fix it, and you love that particular JP, the CS guys will take care of you.

Grifff, if you really love that guitar, it'll be sooooo worth the wait to get a bad switch replaced!!!!! HONEST!!!!! Don't just 'settle' for something else because of a minor issue like a switch.

I took it in to GC today and they will be ordering me a completely new guitar. The tech said the wiring was correct but the switch might be bad.

Got the new "new" JP6 today and it play way better than the one I had before. The one I had before had sharp fret edges, the finish around the nut was sloppy and the piezo switch was malfunctioning. I can safely say that this one has none of those issues and plays much better.

After reading all the horror stores about Guitar Center, I can say that the Guitar Center in Towson has never given me any trouble. All three of the guys that I worked with were very pleasant, knowledgeable, and kind and I love my new guitar.

Thanks everyone on the forum for helping me with my issues!

Thanks beej, do you or anyone else close to EBMM know if the JP6 with the roasted neck and BFR inlay has the same chambering and tonewoods as the JPX? Is this model an actual BFR or does it just have the inlay? What are the main differences between a regular JP6 and the JP6 with the BFR inlay that I have?

Does mine have the BFR inlay only because it has the roasted neck?
