That looks a little bit like Foggy's first guitar

Oh yeah, I'm still banned from posting pictures

BP is that a trick question? These guys around here will take anything you throw at them. They are happy to get a single bacon bit while waiting for all you can eat steak buffet from BP Smokers!

I love these rides. It is always amazing (and a privilege) to see these creations unfold.
I would also venture a guess that there is nothing more fun for a guitar builder.
<rock on> there is no closing tag for this attribute.

NorM you aren't banned. There is nothing to show yet or I would show you guys a tiny part of it!

The part everyone is missing out of this is something you said earlier... JP wanted to make a few changes, so the shape behind the pillow isn't what it will be, so there is nothing to show.

It will be more interesting to see the guitar behind that pillow in a few years as a retrospect than it would be to see it now. Seeing it now would ruin the excitement of the final reveal. The most interesting thing, that I can imagine anyway, has already been revealed and that is the angled headstock... I am much interested to see how that affects the guitar's feel (i.e. will it change that wonderful loosey goosey Musica Man string tension feel?)

I'm behind though... I need to play a jpxi. I've never liked radiuses that flat, but I never liked ebony fretboards either, and I love my JPX7. I'm kinda curious if the ultimate JP for me would be the JPXI with a JPX neck. I love the chambering of the JPX, but like John, I feel that a non chambered would be good for more intricate bits. I'm going to end up with a million guitars one day if I'm not careful. LOL

the crazy thing is, even if the Stallion body was nothing more than a 2x6 with pickups and a bridge, JP would still sound amazing....

The petrucci line has become the IPHONE of the guitar world... new models every year, and we all wait with bated breath.

I hope the JPXII has 4G... I don't need anything slowing me down, except my poor skills :)

Also, is the stallion affiliated with Petrucci, or becoming its own line? I thought I read in an earlier post, BP, that you said it's not part of the "petrucci" line; but it sure seems that he has been very involved with it.

I think he meant that it is not part of the regular "Petrucci" line as in it will not be a template build, and will not replace anything existing. It will still be a JPsomething.

...hmmm...

it was stated that it has better access to higher frets; so, i'll speculate that there's something going on with the neck joint, which is why the serial # is written on the 'angled' headstock. i think that if there were no changes to the neck joint then they would have used a neck plate from existing stock that had a serial # already stamped into it....

More access to the dusty frets....possibly a neck thru? Just throwing my 2 worthless pennies into the speculation.

I'm no designer by any stretch, but that guitar would be infinitely better if the horse was carved on the LOWER horn and the top horn was a carrot.

guys here is the problem with disclosure in the process....Everytime we have done it ....it has gotten really ugly....It is impossible for passionate fans to just enjoy the ride. The attacks we got on the first BFR were astounding....I would show more but it just isnt worth the noise...

It is like playing people rough mixes.....you tell them it is a rough mix and then they critique it as a finished product....or you play them the rough and then they hear the final mix and they liked the rough better....the creative process is a very special and delicate process and internet wildfires only stunt the process....

Just giving you the perspective here.....
