Anyone received a new Bongo lately with flaws in the finish? I finally got my "Christmas Present" about 2 weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, it was worth the wait and I love the bass, but I immediately noticed several flaws in the paint job. Also, I picked it up last weekend and out of the clear blue the G string was touching the first fret. I had been playing it off and on for a week or so and keeping it in a stand in-between. It is in a climate controlled room, probably about 70-72 degrees...... Strange. I play primarily in drop C# with 50 - 115 GHS Boomers. I put a new set of theose on and it is playing fine. The action might be a little low but won't take much of a tweak.

I'm a converted guitar player, so I don't have as much experience with bass gear as many of you on this forum. I'm curious to see if anyone else has had this happen with their Bongo. I'll also post pictures of the finish. I'm pretty laid back about it but I think most people would have sent it back or asked for a resolution of some sort?

All of your photos are blurry, so they're mostly useless.

Contact EBMM customer service with your concerns; we can't help you here...we're just customers.

Same here, really can't make out anything from the pics. But I'd say definately contact them or the shop and get this sorted. From my experience mm make very good products so don't settle for less if there's a genuine problem.

Yeah, the only thing I see is a picture of a string on a first fret. But, you're playing 1 1/2 steps below standard tuning with strings that can be used for standard tuning and the seasons are changing. Climate is more than temperature. So, that doesn't lend itself to internet diagnosis.

If you have issues with the bass, call customer service.

It's really hard to get a picture of the flat black... The neck blem is pretty clear though.

I understand that no one here is going to solve the problem. My post was simply to get some feedback from others who may have experienced the fret out issue and/or bad finish. It would be good to have that info. when/if I do contact customer service.

Yeah, I was attempting to illustrate what I was describing in the post. I tried to hold the bass in one hand and snap the picture with my phone... This was with the original strings tuned in std. E. Sorry I didn't communicate that very well. I've been playing guitar for 30+ years and had many many many different kinds. I've just never come back to a guitar that was just sitting in a stand to find the string litterally laying on the fret wire. No drops, bumps, climate change, etc... Obviously I will call customer service. I just thought this forum might have members that may have something to offer or past experience.

We shy away from internet diagnosis around here. I would say that your situation is "uncommon" if as described and would be best served by a talk with your dealer THEN customer service if need be.

Well, humans are involved so anything is possible. Finish flaws happen and necks get squirrely, but we can't say that's the case based on the info and photos you provided. The only past experience that I can offer with the problems you are describing is that they stand behind their product so if there are legitimate issues with a new instrument, they'll make it right.

None of us are trying to be difficult or standoffish, mind you. Not being 100% happy with a major purchase is a pain. But, we just know how these threads end up, and we can't really even see the problems very well. So, it's speculation at best, and that's not fair to anyone.
