Hehe......
Kevin, you are cracking me up. On the fence with that thing huh?
I can't believe nobody yet said Al HH!
Same pickups in the Axis SS but the body is soooooo comfortable.
There is your answer right there.
IMO, the forearm contour really matters more on the player. Some folks get on with 'slab body' guitars no problem, where as with others it's a non-starter. I think it really depends upon how the player positions his/her wrist when playing.
Basically if it doesn't work for you, you likely would have to modify your playing style... or find a guitar with a contour.
I think the lack of a forearm cut is the one downfall of the AXIS. It really does get in the way and cause some pain while sitting down. Perhaps this can be addressed in the future. I can see me getting rid of mine ONLY for that reason (I, too, only play sitting down at home).
I personally love the Axis and the Axis Super Sport....I can play them for hours with no dis-comfort....However, I play an Al today with an all rosewood neck...for the first time and it was unbelievably comfortable for me......Good luck....I also like the Reflex feel...and multiple tonal varieties.....!!
Not trying to be a smartass, but have you tried playing standing up?
I have the same arm carve issue with my Super Sport. My other EBMMs have a carve, which I prefer, but I like the Super Sport and don't want to get rid of it because of that. So I started playing it with a strap standing up and I hang it a little lower than my other guitars. At that angle, the edge of the guitar does not dig into my forearm. Just a thought.
The AL HH is a great option. The most comfortable guitar ever (for me that is)! Both standing up and sitting down.

Thanks...I'm heading back to GC tonight to return the Axis and get the AL HH. I haven't played one but I know it will be comfortable and the sound will be similar since it the same PUPs, and if I like its neck profile then it's a plus! I still think the Axis neck is the best!!!
Ohhh Yeah. Nice choice pinoy. Very nice. The Albert Lee is truly my favorite EB guitar as I have 2 of them and they both friggin rock. What's the 411 on the AL?
Hi folks,
- The Neck - I have a small hands and the neck on the Axis guitars are so comfortable to play with! The sad part, whatever guitar I play in the future, I would always think of that neck. I may eventually like some other neck profile, but I don't think I would love it the way I love the Axis neck!
