I have one 5 HH on order.

For some reason I feel drawn to order one thats currently in stock in the UK and have both....

UK prices are set to go up due to the economy/importing prices, etc, so I've been looking at what is available and I can pickup another Bongo.

Thing is, it would be 2 HH's then.

Different colours though haha.

Its a Bongo or a Sterling 4, but I can imagine the prices for the Sterling 4 I currently want are virtually the same as the Bongo I've seen.

You are asking the wrong crowd. Seriously.

I'm a big fan of multiple Bongos. That's why I own three. I have two HSP 5 strings--one with Cobalts and one with flats. And, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having two that are identical excepting color. So, if you can afford it and aren't going to catch Hell from the significant other, and aren't keeping your kid in ratty clothes or with an out of date school computer, go for it.

I've got two Bongo H's. Like bassmonkee, I've got flats on one, Cobalts on the other. I justified the second Bongo purchase by saying it was a backup, but it was because I really wanted a second one. Hope my wife ain't reading this...

Oldmanmusic has nailed it, when you call it a "backup", it makes all the sense in the world. No longer sounds crazy.

I did that once when I had a Sterling 5 on order, and bought another while I was waiting for one on order. I regretted it, as the first one never measured up to the one I was waiting for. I would say don't do it.

The first Bongo that I bought was my 4 HH Dargies Delight II. I put it on layaway and was looking forward to buying this bass on faith alone that it would be good. My first time ever seeing the Bongo, I hated the looks and made a comment about that. Big Poppa replied to comment to give i time and it would grow on me. He was right. The bass did start to grow on me and I kept hearing all of these positive things about them so I bought the DDII on faith that I would like it but figured if I didn't, I could always sell it and get something else. Well, as that bass was on layaway, they released order for the BFR Roasted Necks and I fell in love! I was still in the process of selling of some gear but Beaver at Bass Central was kind enough to allow me to place he order for the BFR Roasted Neck as well due to it only being a month long order window. With that bass, I wanted to go with a 4 H also due to BP saying that was his favorite configuration on the Bongo. It made me curious how the two compared so I got both basses really on faith that I would like them. Fast forward to a few months down the road and I got my DDII I think in November and my BFR Roasted Neck in February. They officially made me a certified Bongo head. As a result, I just got my 3rd Bongo last month, in June, and have a fourth being built on the Mahogany with Roasted Neck. This time around I added Piezo to each one and have loved it. Actually, I ordered that candy apple red 4 Hp in February when I got our tax refund and while waiting for it, the PDR Bongo was ordered so I guess I am 2 for 2 on ordering Bongo's while waiting for the arrival of the first one.

This needs to be made into a shirt! BP, if you are reading this, would you give the blessing for this to be made into a shirt if I paid to have it done? There is a local t-shirt place in town that could do it for me. I would promise to wear it a lot of times when I played one of my Bongos!

Crazy to most.....

Completely normal to most of us......

It all depends on the sample population really. :). But I know that waiting can be torture, and I've bought other basses while waiting on an order. That's how I ended up with two Dargies for my "introduction".

I say wait on it for three days, if your justifications still feel right to you, go for it.... It's just money. :)

Don't do it! Wait for your current one. Then buy another one.

Why tarnish the special bongo day you were looking forward to?

"Oh, it's another HH Bongo...." get a 4 HSp and be done with it!

This is wise...and I agree. I am going to play it safe and wait for my new Bongo 5HH, which will have the new tuners.

I also agree that if I was to order another, it would be a 4 or 5 HSp. For now, I'll keep my eyes out for a Sterling 4 H, or a 2EQ/Classic Ray.
