I got my Pacific Blueburst Axis from the Perfect Guitar about 5 years ago. The pics on the site were incredible, and then they emailed me more/better ones when I inquired. I was sold, I couldn't resist!

Pacific Blueburst is one of my favorite finishes. Seems to work best with the Axis, imo.

Me too, been looking at those PDN Axis's (Axises, Axii, doh) but can't get hold of them in the sunny UK so I might have to 'settle' for a regular BFR

Sunny refers to our disposition rather than our climate, believe that if you will!! I'm sure we can get some PDN's in the UK but not such a large choice and certainly not at such good prices. That's life, or so they say...

It's definitely worth it. The PDN version has enough differences from the standard Axis to call it a different guitar, imo. I haven't been able to put mine down since I've got it and I think I'm becoming an Axis convert.
One of the first things that I've noticed when I plugged in is how much brighter sounding the guitar is vs. my others. For instance, I usually roll the bass eq off my amp down to about the quarter mark. With the Axis, I had to dial it up to almost half. Once I dialed in my amp, the bass notes got that "punch in the gut" feel and sound which I love.
Apparently there is a noticeable difference between the mahogany body and the basswood. With the basswood, there's a bass overtone that's kind of airy. Almost has a chambered sound to it imo. The mahogany body doesn't have that but retains the bottom end punch and mid-range spank.
If I had a say in it, I'd want all of my guitars to have an un-glossed, roasted maple neck with stainless steel frets. Axises always had my favorite necks but these features take it over the top. Bending strings is silky smooth and knowing that there's going to be less wear on the frets let's me do more bending with confidence.
As far as mods go, I added a D-Tuna and strap locks. Normally I don't care about strap locks but since the bottom end strap touches the beautiful finish, I added the lock to help pull the strap away. I think a chrome knurled knob would look cool to match the hardware but the one I had was kind of tall. Maybe a low-profile one will work.
If I'm not mistaken, the guitar comes equipped with 9's (puny gauge
). I think I'm going to switch to 10's when I do a string change. It's way too easy to play right now and I like a little fight.Jeez I wrote a lot! Sorry for the long-winded review. I'm going to go play it some more now.
