Hey Man! Nice purchase!

I haven't been here in a while. My login was frozen. Whenever I would do the re-set, the new Password wouldn't work.

Jackson2112 = Nice score on the Green Tribute & upcoming purchase (whatever it is)

Pics added! Nice Axis Tribute right?! Even though I got it for a used price it is definitely new. No cleaning swirls or any signs of use, still has the tags on the back. Only thing that made it seem used id whoever had it before me had the bridge set to float. I've never been a pruple guy but this was just to nice to pass up. Plus with the money I made on the evh I have a nice stack of cash to spend on friday

How did the previous owner get the Floyd to float?

you loosen the spring tension. I'm guessing it probably wasn't on purpose, I think he may have changed the strings to a higher gauge and didn't know how to set up a floyd lol. It was about a half inch off the body

You have to make your own shim (wood is easiest way), to place in the neck pocket. The shim raises the neck, which allows you to raise the height of the Floyd. You can then make adjustments as to how low you want the action.

My buddy did this for his Axis, plays like a dream! Being able to use a Floyd to its full potential makes the Axis a BEAST.

*** Now, if you have a heavy hand, you will have to give yourself several weeks of adjusting.***

Basically, you will have to re-train your right hand to not be so lazy! The focus of your resting will be between the Bridge pickup and Floyd (Low E and A strings). Resting on the Floyd is ok too, just be light.

I usually rest my hand at the point where the string meets the Saddle. This way, I can create a nice mute OR fall back to let the strings ring out.

Being flexible will allow you to be a better player. Try it
