I think you made the right choice in that trade. That is hot, hot, hot!

Thank you, I agree. I wasn't playing them, so this made much more sense.

I'm really enjoying the DL. The raw roasted neck feels great and has some nice flame. I love my roasted necks.

The set screws on the volume and tone knobs are tightened in precisely the same spot. Nice attention to detail in the factory. I love this guitar.

I know the volume pot is 250k as Steve likes it, and I must say that it is so friction-free and my tone sounds great. I'm just curious, since I usually use 500k pots and I play using higher gain and distortion...what would happen if these pots were swapped out for 500k?

Just ask Gio. He did exactly this and for him the difference was night and day. I think he mentioned the pickups opening up more.

Only saw this now. HA!! :D

haha - I thought you'd like that.

I just ordered a new back cover for the DL, since mine has Steve's signature and a doodle of a guitar on it. I spoke with A.J. from ebmm customer service on the phone. He's a really helpful and friendly guy.

Is that Steve Morse's actual signature/guitar sketch on the Darklord's cavity cover?
As opposed to a silkscreen on something?
Edit (Sorry for the Hijack)- Apparently I just bought the Darklord that was on Ebay. You never know when people will take you up on an offer :D
The seller said that 70 were made. Is this true, because GC seems to still have 12 available? Are the serial numbers sequential or random?
Will I need to massage the nut for regular slinkys?

Are the Darklord humbuckers the same Dimarzios as the Y2D? the normal Steve Morse pickups have allen screw type poles and the darklord seems to have fillister head screws like a PAF.

For what I understand, the DL is the same as the Y2D in the electronics, including the PUs.

They include a chrome cover though, and that´s what makes them different, but they´re the exact same model that those which come in the regular Y2D...

I thought the hex screw bobbins for dimarzios don't have the counterbore for the fillister head screws?
Are there hex screws under the cover?
