Hey guys.I have noticed, lately, and I was probably in denial for a couple of years, now, but I have arthritis in a couple of my fingers. It has affected my playing ability, and I am finding that I need more room on the fretboard. My favourite EBMM guitars to play have been the axis series, followed by the sil specials. They now seem too small for these gnarly fingers....I haven*t tried a reflex,or a 25th..do they offer more room on the fretboard?I have been playing another brand of guitar, with a larger neck and the extra room has helped.I love EBMM guitars, and would like to find one with the axis vibe, and a bigger neck...any advice is appreciated...Merry Christmas to all you Knuckleheads!

I can totally relate, I have arthritis in my knuckles on my left hand, yes makes it much harder to play:)

Try a Dark Lord it has a totally different neck seemed roomier to me! Also look at the JP's especially the X,XI and XII but the standard works for me.:)

I can also relate.. I'm trying to take of the problem ASAP.. It's my bread and butter (how I make a living) as a full-time musician gigging 4-7 times a week. And when it's winter it gets pretty darn infuriating to me how sore it can get but I gotta really keep it at bay if possible.. My right hand is nasty and my left I notice some mobility issues.. :( so I'm talking with my doctors and doing everything possible to steer clear. But I wish you look with this situation, it's very hard for any guitarist to go through.. I have a SBMM jp100 which I think is a licensed copy of the jp6 or so but I figure all those necks must be familiar. I love the feel of the neck thou.. It's different from the rest of my EBMM and SBMM necks but its just as amazing.. Aloha

I can't play 1-5/8th nuts.

I bought a JP6 specifically because it is the only regular MM that has a wider nut. Unfortunately the string spacing is right back at where a 1-5/8th nut is because the nut has been nut with more space at the sides.

I would have made a new nut but the JP6 also has a back-of-neck profile that I don't like, it's very much D with a flat back.

So I play MM basses now and I'm also looking for suggestions.

I tried the Petrucc, and it didn*t really feel much wider, string spacing wise than the guitars I have...if I can find a Dark Lord ,I*ll give it a test hop.My next song is called..Gettin* old aint for sissies.Arthritis has grounded many a good guitarist...just have to keep adjusting..Tx,guys.

Damn, RJ. I thought my arthritis was bad. I feel for you, brother. I hope the docs can figure out some form of relief for you. I actually play because it relieves some of my arthritic pain, and keeps my joints from stiffening up too much, as long as I don't over-do it. Hang in there, man!
