I have LOXX in my JP and they fit with no problem. No modifications whatsoever.

I remember when I was starting out and didn't know of such a thing and I dropped a Telecaster on the linoleum floor, so I would use excessive amount of black electric tape to secure it, when I found out SL exist I was like cool

Ever sinec my 89 L Paul fell to the ground and busted input jack and plate (ripped 2 screws right out of the body) I have EB's on my Jp's and schallers on the LP's. I don't think you need to worry about screwing up the wood. If at any time the hole gets too big or threads get stripped, just shove the hole full of a toothpick or 2 and fill with wood glue. Then drive in a new screw.

That's an old thread, but I prefer using two red washers from beer bottles. Just as safe, but cheaper, looks cleaner, and you don't have to modify the guitar.

I got my EB super locks about a year ago. I love them. The stock EBMM screws that were already on the guitar fit perfectly (no drilling required), easy and very secure, you can't loose any washers or nuts if they come undone (yes, I'm talking to you, Schaller), they are quiet (no rattling), they won't punch a hole in the bottom of a gig bag like the Schaller ball end will, and the buttons can still be used with a regular strap. EB for the win!

Dunlop strap locks right off the bat for me.....I do buy aftermarket screws, slightly longer and a touch thicker than the stock screws.....super solid, never had a problem. Will never go back to normal strap buttons.

I’m a bit surprised that no one has mentioned this. Instead of modifying your guitar by changing your strap buttons, I highly recommend trying a Lock-It guitar strap (Lock-It Guitar Straps - Home). The locking mechanisms are in the leather end pieces and are very thin but very secure. Prices range from $20 for nylon with leather ends to $70 for all leather. You can find them at Sweetwater and on eBay.

Wow! Those are amazing. Next time I need a new strap those are the ones.

I use Dimarzio Cliplok, but I took the stock buttons and screwed those over the clip lok ends. So if the clip loo strap fails, I can still put on a regular strap.
