I hate to say but I picked up a used, but absolute mint Sterling bass at a repuatable store in Toronto for $800. That was the asking price. I felt guilty to ask it was firm and just paid that price as I knew it was more than fair. The economy is a lot worse here in Ontario that people will admit.
first off it has been YEARs..should be no surprise....we increased models that we LOST money on...its either that or discontinue them...I figure the market can decide if they want them to just discontinue them would deny someone the chance at getting one...
But Keith...tell me how you know that when gc's inventory goes down that the other prices will go up? GC is about 11% of world wide sales. SPeculation can turn into internet fact....there are no additional price increases on tap
I NEVER mind paying extra for anything EB - the quality has always been there. And quite honestly, I think highly of the company and the CEO and am willing to support them (pay extra) for this reason as well (from the Music Man Wikipedia article):
"In 2001, Sterling Ball decided to institute a living wage at the plant. The entry level wage would be $10.10 per hour. One third of the then current workforce of 226 people got a raise. He cited the need to attract and retain high quality employees, and the moral responsibility to provide his employees with a decent income. Fewer than twenty percent of the residents in San Luis Obispo county can afford to buy a house. He had this to say in a New Times interview concerning the decision, "It's contrary to a lot of traditional business theories, I know, but I did it because it's the right thing to do, fundamentally."
There's got to be more in life than buying stuff as cheap as possible and making stuff as cheap as possible...
