How to spot a fake:
1) Post the serial number here and I'll let you know if it's valid, and if it matches the description.
2) Post pictures of the suspicious instrument either here, on th official pics thread, or here: http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-basses/47253-infadels-fake-stingrays.html. Someone will spot it and give you a solid answer.

Kduncan, it looks like everything matches up besides the pickguard, which was probably swapped out, no big deal.

I just traded for a 1999 SR5. My first Music Man bass, ad a model I have been GAS'ing for for several years. Serial number E11028, Egyptian Smoke with Rosewood fretboard.

I put a set of regular slinkys on it tonight and will practice in them until my first gig with this bass doing a full in gig on Saturday. Can't wait!
