I was wondering if anybody knew what type (not the value), but the type/brand of caps are in the Music Man guitars? I played a Majesty the other day and I liked the roll-off the tone knob had. Sort of a vocal, half-cocked wah pedal sound. I know it's a 0.022uF cap.

If anybody could pop the back off their Majesty and check for me, that'd be awesome.

Thanks!

Anybody? I see lots of "New Guitar Day" threads from people with this guitar. Nobody is willing to pop the back cover off their guitar and check to see what kind of tone cap it is?

Takes like 30 seconds to take a look... ;) Pleeeease

Doesn't even have to be a Majesty. I'm sure they use the same type of cap in all their guitars.

Try google image search for petrucci wiring photots? There are a lot out there. Why in just two minutes I determined that they are...

...shiny red.

What type? Who knows. Polyester or polyproylene or silver mica?? Who can tell under all that red.

The thing is this - type of capacitor matter not one bit. It's a myth. All that counts is the value of the cap and the value of the pot and how they interact with the pickups. The taper of the pot determines how the tone "feels" when rolling it back. (Not all log tapers are the same).

Thanks for the info. :) I've tried google image search and yeah... no results where you can see the cap clear enough. I tried that before joining this forum.

And I don't think pot taper has anything to do with it when the pot is on zero. Pot value... sure. But I'm guessing the pot value is the standard 500k +/-. Rather than get into an argument about this, I'm really just looking for a simple answer as to what type of cap it is. polyester, polypropylene, ceramic disk, pio, etc.

In the time it takes to write a post on the forum, one could just as easily pop the cover off the guitar and take a look. I don't need a photo or anything.

Hell, I'll Paypal whoever can give me a legit answer $5 for your trouble.
