Hi all! I just brought home a beautiful sunburst Sterling HS, easily the best bass I've ever owned and the best neck I've ever felt. The serial number is F40308. Can you give me any specifics? Thanks!

Hi. newbie poster here. I'd love to know when my beloved MM Stingray was produced. Serial number 46415 (on the bridge, no prefix). It's a 2 band EQ 4 string with a 6-bolt neck plate. Honeyburst body with a gorgeous birds eye maple neck, fretboard and head. Cheers!

In about 1972, I purchased an Earthwood bass from a music store in Albany, NY. I still have the bass with its original padded case and they are both still in great condition. The serial number is TB655. Can you tell me the date of manufacture?

Unfortunately we do not have production information for the Earthwood instruments.

Hi. Quick question about how reliable the database is for neck details.

I have been after a 90's Stingray with mute bridge for years, since I borrowed one about 12 years ago and fell in love with it. Killed me handing it back. Now I found one not too far away that looks to be in good condition. Got the serial and contacted Music Man. The year and colour checks out but they say it should have a rosewood fingerboard. The one I am looking at has a maple board. It looks good to me but now that Music Man have on record that it's rosewood I am a little concerned. Is it common for Music Man's database to be off on details like that? I can understand if it is as they could be just pulling necks of the assembly line and assigning them at close to random on bodies and that the serial number is on the body it could be easy to get the neck wrong. Should I be overly concerned by this?

Hi there, I am looking at a SR4, not sure all parts are original or not refinished. Serial number 45688. Supposed to be natural body, maple neck. Does it check out with your database?

Once the bass leaves the factory we don't have any control over it. Its very possible that somebody swapped necks along the way, whether it was at the store before it sold or after at some point. The database tends to be very accurate (although no system is 100% perfect).

Just bought a new SR4 today. serial number is E74963

That serial number brings up a natural Stingray 5 with maple neck completed on June 29th, 1995.

Hi A.J. I am looking to buy a nice StingRay5 with the S/N 53321. Can you tell me the DOB and whether it has an ALNICO or Ceramic PU? I also wonder if the neck is fully gloss (looks like on the pictures). Do you have any data in regards to this?
Thank you so much again and best regards.

BO 53333 SN can you give me the details on my instrument?

I bought it about 3 years ago, said to be new from a dealer and an anniversary edition or similar. It arrived as a new guitar in case with goodies and in original box...

Just would like to know if what I paid for is what I got.

That bass was completed on December 24th, 1992. The pickup is ceramic and the neck wasn't glossy when it left our factory. We started doing the oil and wax in 1991.

Edit: Although we implemented the oil/wax in 1991 it wasn't across the board until 1993. It's very possible that bass left our factory with a glossy neck.

December 22nd, 1992... weird that the previous poster's bass was made 2 days later!

Just bought this stingray Classic Serial # E38293
