I don't think it's fair to compare which is more "bassy" off the acoustic tone of the instruement though. I've got 3 Fender basses, a 5 string American Jazz, a 4 string American Jazz and a 4 string P-bass. Acoustic, the bassiest is the 4 string jazz followed by the 5 string jazz then the P-bass. Plugged in it is the exact opposite. In my experience, mahogany bodied basses have some real nice low-mids, more pronounced than the exact same model with a different body wood.

Indeed low-mids. Thats my opinion too. But full blown lows are certainly not more boosted than with ash. Also, pluged in you get the sound you should judge on an electric bass, you are right about that. But what you hear is 50% amp 35%bass electronics and pickup and 15% wood use :) or something like that. The point is, you hear all those things work together to create a sound. But to compare basses for small sound differences like different tone woods for body or fb. I find it much more usefull to not plug in. That way you are taking alot out of the equasion.

Finally got my bass, it's more than I could have dreamed of. I even got the bird's eye maple neck that I wanted!

Arrived today.
1H 2band EQ with SLO neck.

Neck is amazingly fast. I have no idea how to properly capture the color of the body. All the pics I've taken show it blue. But in the sunlight, it has a greenish tint. Neck/headstock isn't as tiger striped as some on this list, but that's not what sold me on it. Feels a bit lighter than my SR4 HH (SLO), though it may be purely in my head. I haven't weighed them.

Does anyone here use their's for gigs?

Here is mine awaiting a new year's eve gig on 31st Dec/1st Jan 2015 - about to launch into Dolly Parton songs, Elvis and Moon River!! :)

I use it regularly and it sounds great in various settings, but it mostly sits in bridge H/neck single coil combination.

that looks cool! haven't gigged with mine but I have rehearsed with it a lot, always sounds great! but so do all my ebmm basses :p looking forward to using it on some upcoming shows next month, although I will leave it at home when we go on tour... just don't want to see it get hurt or stolen just yet :)

Two days after receiving mine I took it to the local Dooley's (a real craphole) and rocked it all night, from 10-2. That's been our only gig since I got it, but I plan on using it on every gig. How else would I make the money spent on it back? I've never really understood buying a nice bass and not using it for gigs out of fear of damage. You bought it to play it, rock it!

Sadly my original order for a Stingray fell through after 6 months of waiting for some news, but I was able to snatch this one up!
