So i sold my black 1994 sr4 today and got a replacement the same day. Originally i wanted another 2 pickup bass. But as soon as i saw this online, i knew it was for me. Its got the best of the old and new features moxed into 1 bass. 6 bolt, flea bridge , body contours and newer trus rod wheel. But still has the mutes and 2bd eq.
This one only weighs 8 pounds and has a single piece body!

The first musicman bridges with the strings going to the sadles straight. It was designed with flea, because his aggresive playing somethimes pulled the strings out of place. With this newer design the problem was resolved.

Thanks for the info; I really appreciate it.

My thoughts exactly on the best of old and new... I had a 2001 first, then an 85, then a 93, the 93 is what I would get if I combined my preferred features of the 01 and 85... Natural finish looks great too!

This is why the classic series are so cool. They include much of the same features. This 1994 bass is actually a classic ray with body contours and oiled neck.

I've got a 94 Ray with the 3-band eq....I bought it new in 1994 and I still love it. It's in near mint condition so it stays home most of the time, but it's a very special bass. There was definitely something great about the Ray's from this era.

After manny hours of playing i can say that this one has gone from touring, beat up, backup bass. To my #1 stingray. I love it! Somehow it has some magic to it. It might be coincidence but it seems the older, the better when it commes to mm basses... it sounds really snappy, yet deep and just perfect to my ears and playability is also the best of my 5 basses. So i guess this one will stick around for a while.
