Wow, I didn't realize it had that kind of history. That's really cool. Thanks for the clarification Lonney!

There is a great pic of EVH, AL and Morse on the cover of Guitar World from around 91/92 where AL has the pinkburst with the "Axis" logo on it.

couldn´t find it right now but have this one

First off Elroy Im glad you have the guitar (sort of) but this is the dodgy side of making one offs for guys who dont really give a rats ass and give guitars to friends when we made them for the artist in exchange for exposure. Its water under the bridge Just making a point. The artists that I admire call us and say "Hey Im not using this...what do you want me to so with it?" Most artists sell them on ebay or give to friends

The AXIS al came about when Dudley and I had a lunch and were talking about balance points and why not take the strat balance points and do something wacky...it was for my personally but we ended up putting alberts name on it.....there was a all grey guitar somewhere called "Reflex" which was done at the same time....

Thanks Colin and BP, great ! Seen the Reflex before on some "Open House"-pics. Isn´t it rather similar to the Silo Spec that came in the mid 90s?
btw. notice the Y2D with the vintage tremolo on the left!

edit: The Reflex - ok it seems like a neck humbucker and other than a vintage trem...

BP has mentioned the one offs that were built given to artists and have (for whatever reason) reared their heads many years later.
For us MM (and especially AL nuts!) this has been a great opportunity for us to feast our eyed on a little bit of EB history and I thank Elroy for that.
I remember not long after joining this forum, an AL appeared on EBay which had a set neck, a hardtail in black and OMG it was absolutely stunning - another example if my recollection serves me right of a proto AL that ended up on the market. That thread must still be somewhere in the forum archives and I'll have to spend some time looking for that.

Elroy, we'd love to see those other AL's too - any chance?
