2002 Axis value?

I'm debating selling my 2002 axis. I havent' been giving it enough love. I love the guitar but it's honestly just too small for my large mitts. Looking at getting a JP15. Used to have one few years ago and regret selling it. So my question is what is an average asking price for an Axis circa. 2002? I've seen a wide range out there. Mine is trans red HH with real nice pronounced birds eye neck. It's clean but modified. No longer have original pups. Can you folks suggest a reasonable price range for this guitar? thanks in advance.

I'd recommend reverb and review the sold items to get a really good idea, same with EvilBay. Maybe review the For Sale thread to get an idea what people are selling things for.

Yes check Reverb, better than Ebay (YUCK) , being modified will have an effect especially since the original pups are sought after. Also very tough selling market right now, trust me on that one

The used market is very slow these days. I should have sold during Covid lockdowns

My experience with this era (I have a '97 & '00) runs a couple directions, and most of what I see lately is that folks are generally asking way too much. Both of mine had peeling paint issues which led me to think that was a pretty common age related issue. Those were both in the $800- $1000.00 range as I recall and both required a lot of love in getting them ina condition I was happy with, but I liked the challenge. One was a tele conversion and the other was all original. As mentioned, not having the original pickups can add to the selling challenge. Any pics or list of mods that have been made? In the end it's still a solid instrument with decent value. Without seeing it or knowing the mods, full condition, case, etc $1000 to $1200 seems to be the baseline.

1000-1200 seems rather low no? I agree though that many people are hyper inflating the selling prices. Here's a screen shot of Reverb selling history. its in CAD $. Interesting.

I think the market has softened a lot. A lot of guitars are sitting on the market for a lot longer than they used to. At the lower end of the spectrum for a good condition Axis, the market suggests a value of $1,500 to $1,600 USD. A lot of things impact those prices including overall condition, age, whether they are a limited edition offering, etc. Without the original pickups, it will most likely lower the value somewhat. Last year, I paid $2,100 USD for a nearly new (3 month old) Axis that was absolutely mint, roasted maple neck and virtually zero fret wear. I personally wouldn’t pay that price for an older Axis without actually seeing it firsthand. But that is just me.

The new roasted necks are very sweet indeed. Local shop here just brought in a gorgeous green matcha quilt with dark roasted neck. yeah 1500-1600 seems pretty reasonable but I'd knock off some for the mods done on mine.

I agree that $1200 seems about right for one with swapped pickups. Those pickups are difficult to find and sell for kind of high dollars when they do so not having them really makes a difference IMO.

I disagree about the market being soft. This is just returning to normal pre-Covid prices.
