the nova is smaller and it still has spillover. the effects blocks are just the same as in the g-system ... just without the control options over inbuilt loops and amp switching nor built in power for pedals.

Whoa wait, Nova has spill over? I thought that was one of its pitfalls no?

I let my amp manage about 90% of my tone. Distortion, and clean, and I use its dealy effect too.

Then I use a digitech processor for a gain boost, wah, volume pedal and tuner.

So in order from most useful to least used.

Tuner
Gain boost
Delay
Wah and Volume tied.

Though the deal and channel selector is its own little footswitch from the amp, so not really sure if I should count those.

Id just figure out what effects you cant replicate through playing. Volume I can control myself, flanger/phaser I can do through picking styles. making use of the bridge selector can really make the difference when doing rhythms and solos.

So the stuff I cant just replicate through my own playing I have the effect for. I sometimes just go direct to my amp through, so my ideas on effect are probably a bit different than yours. lol

If you want to avoid worrying about bypasses and buffering, just rackmount and selector switch the pedal board. All the pedals stay on, all you are effecting is the signal path.

Once I get everything, I'll start to setup the rackmount switcher and roackmount tuner. I'm getting rid of the small stone I have and opting for the OTA based phaser made by Earthquaker devices. The clean boost I'm going to be using to boost the signal back up before the amp since there are so many pedals in the line. I chose the mythfx box because it's one of those twinkie sized pedals. Also considering throwing in a way huge swollen pickle and or fat sandwich, BUT this is because I play through an entirely clean head. I has no drive channel.

If I had to choose six:

The Rock Distortion by Delta Labs is the best distortion out of the three they make, but I think in the long run, you'd be happier with a 4th generation Fulltone OCD (With the red LED), a way huge fat sandwich, or a ZVex Box of Rock.

But for the pricetag, the delta labs rock distortion IS a pretty good pedal.

The Delta Labs Rock Distortion is ordered and on the way. I'm wanting a good almost metalish distortion for not alot of money, and from the reviews I've seen, it does the job well.

I've also ordered a BBE Two Timer Delay pedal. I'm a big fan of BBE's stompboxes. I've owned a Green Screamer (Tubescreamer clone), a Boosta Grande (clean boost), and a Sonic Stomp (Sonic maximizer in pedal form). I wasn't a fan of the Sonic Stomp, but the other two blew me away.

After I try the Delta Lab pedal, if it doesn't work for me, I may get the BBE Crusher. Great distortion pedal that just slays.

The rock distortion is a lot warmer than the metal distortion pedal they have. It sounds much better.

electro-harmonix memory man w/ hazarai (mainly used for looping)

occasionally enhanced with a fulltone ultimate octave> mu-tron octave divider> dunlop 535 wah, all placed before the gt-500

my signal then usually runs into one (or two) of the following:
'08 mesa 5:25 12" combo
'85 mesa mk III
'64 super reverb
'62 national bass amp
'57 champ
or whatever crappy backline amp the bar/club has...
