squirrels and scorpions - got plenty of the former and none of the later around here... I did observe 2 7th graders fighting over a cheeto though (I didn't applaud the winner)

Thank goodness he didn't bring that habit back to SLO or at least he keeps it confined to farting contests with Tomas over in the purchasing department.

DuBaldo, step away from the arboreal rodents and check your email.

Speaking of common yard pests, why do I always find black widows by my pool?

Do they have parties at night while I'm asleep?

I swear, I've found about ten over the last year.

And they look drunk and sunburned, you know?

I present:

THE BALL FAMILY SQUIRREL!

You know how much I love posting pertinent photos.

Naturally, I knew about that one.

I tried SO hard to keep from posting it. I wanted to keep the good taste and high moral standards of the forum (yeah, right) intact.

It took nearly superhuman restraint.

But I managed it.

Thank you, Pete, for doing it so I didn't have to! :D

Yesterday I saw the crows that got the hawk that got the squirrel that got the apple core.

Ok maybe it wasn't the same squirrel, but yesterday I'm walking out of Circuit City and this Hawk goes flying over my head carrying a squirrel. Right behind it was two crows. The birds then flew across the street where the hawk dropped the squirrel in another field. More crows showed up and an air battle ensued over the squirrel. Eventually all birds flew away and I never saw one come back for the squirrel carcass.

It was odd. It was like watching Planet Earth live.

What no crazed turkey vultures swooping in. Boy, things have changed since I moved away.

Yesterday I saw the crows that got the hawk that got the squirrel that got the apple core. ......

St. Peter and God are out playing golf. On the first tee, St. Peter wins honors and hits a beautiful drive, 250 yards right down the middle.

God says "Not bad, not bad." He steps up to the tee, but His drive is a horrible slice. Way off in right field, headed for the next county.

It lands two fairways over, but before the second bounce a squirrel darts out from the underbrush and grabs it in its jaws, running for cover.

A hawk spies the squirrel as it's running, swoops down and snatches it, flying off towards the first pin.

Just as it reaches the green, a bolt of lightning comes down out of a clear blue sky.

The lightning hits the bird, the bird drops the squirrel, the squirrel drops the ball, and the ball lands on the first green, bounces once and rolls into the cup.

St. Peter turns to God and says, "Will you stop fooling around and play golf?"

Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all week......

Jack, I've found Black Widows under the skimmer covers of pools before.

You know, just so you don't go thinking you're nuts or something.

I've also found them in the meters of our car washes. I tried to train one of them to make change, but it turned out to be problematic at best.
