Question...i've heard alot about the mm90's, never owned them in a guitar. What exactly do they sound like? what style of music would suit them best? I've always been a 2 humbucker "metal" sound kind of guy. Now with the Luke, i've been exploring more single coil sounds.

I highly recommend the Axis. Pickups, though are a personal choice. Since I don't know what type of music you play, that should be your decision. As for color, you can't beat trans orange.

ASS - MM90's with piezo -
a bonus would be the all rosewood. Killer neck feel - killer sound

I have one of those and it ROCKS in a very dark way.

I am relatively new member here. (more like obssesed member) And I will be ordering my next Lefty soon. I only have 3 guitars to choose from, the Luke, The Silo Special, and the ASS. What do you think I should get and with what options, colors, etc. I will order the most popular one people pick. Ok, go...

I've got to go with the Axis SS as well...my choice would be humbuckers, for versatility's sake. Besides great humbucking tones, the split tones are great too. Personally my humbucker equipped ASS gets more playtime than the one with MM-90s, by far. Just personal taste, but I think if you're doing more high output stuff, humbuckers would be the way to go.

Hey, Lefty, I was born and raised in Clifton, NJ.

If you do decide on a Silo Special, I recommend you try out both a rosewood and maple board. Mine sound very different from each other.

On the Silo Sp. bucker, I can see that it's not for everyone, but for me it's perfect for what I play, which is often just over the edge of distortion. Really tight sound across the whole range, top to bottom. I use it a lot, especially on the rosewood board guitar.. warmer sounding. For cleans I prefer single coils. Haven't even owned a bucker for some 20 years, before getting the Silo. I just love mine.

Either one of those would be nice, just remember the ASS has no body contours, not a big deal to me but to some it is a concern, plus once my funds are good again, i.e. next year, an ASS with MM 90,s and a Silo Special would be by next choices.

Seems like if you like metal tones you should go at least 1 humbucker and a rosewood board... now my Silo with a good pedal gives off a great metal tone but I am also in the process of ordering a Rosewood ASS for the growling... That in all honesty is what I would recomend, Warmoth charges $500++ dollars for a rosewood neck, and almost no companies even does a guitar like that not to mention the Rosewood top... so for this guitar to be offered to us loser lefties is really cool of EBMM and you seem to like guitars a little more botique so I say go for one of those! Then You, Me and Jimmy can start our own club "The club for leties currently awaiting their Rosewood ASS"

LeftyBlue, I know exactly what you are talking about. I've been torturing myself over the Silo vs. Axis Super Sport thing for some time now... I've been looking at those pix too...

You mentioned you like to play double Hum guitars, why not get the best of both worlds and try an Axis Super Sport in HH config. There's one in Honey Burst righ there:

I know Im late Lefty, but I have both those guitars and its really great to have both for different tones, I would get the silo special first and put the pups you want in it, its the greatest guitar ever made pound for pound and it covers all grounds, NOW when i put down the silo and pick up the axis i ralize that it has tones of tone options, get the two buckers - you can split the coils and get all sorts of combinations, anyhow I hope I was helpful - the are both extremely versatile but the silo is my fave with the axis ss w buckers a close second -

Personnally I find the silo spec is the most versatile EBMM available to us southpaws. I love mine (thanks Jimmy-jengas!) and it will NEVER leave my stable

That being said, my next EBMM will be a MM90 Super Sport. I wish I was in the market for a new guitar. That super sport from DrumCity would be on its way to me for sure! it looks amazing!
