So, as a spur the moment thing, me and Travis decided to head up to Guitar Center. And here are the results....

Let's start with the selection they had....

I am really amazed by that Medallion Gold 5 string bongo they had. I've seen a Bongo that color in the retail environment. I think the GC by me has about 15 EB's now.

Me and Travis debated on that. I said it was medallion gold but he says it was desert gold. Either way, that medallion gold Sterling was a mighty fine bass.

On second look I had confused myself by looking at the Lava Pearl Bongo behind it which I thought was Desert Gold. The lighting kinda made everything look lighter than it was. I think Travis is right and that is Desert Gold.

Looks like a fun trip! The GC in Baton Rouge usually has 1 to 2 MM basses. I stopped at the GC in New Orleans the other day, and there were maybe a dozen or so.

Jeez if the GC near me had that much stuff I'd actually go there to shop. They might have 3 MM basses on a good day, and only Ampeg amps. No Mesa, and no PJB..that's for darn sure. Did I see a Ken Smith there too?

i went to the sf store about 2 months ago to get myself a tiny combo amp and they had about 7 or 8 EBMMs ... way more than i expected

The San Jose one seemed to keep a pretty good stock of Rays last time I went down there (back in Feb).

Wasn't into Bongos yet, so I didn't notice any...

I think it's cool that you guys can go hang out togther at GC and try a few basses out as 'forum friends'. Looks like fun was had by all.

How bout getting serious & doing us a review of those 2 pup 'Rays?

My local GC has one exactly like this that I played a couple days ago.It had to be one of the nicest Stingrays I had ever played. The setup and the finish on the neck was incredible.Talk about G.A.S. Wish I had $1200 to drop on it:( Oh well I went home and played my SR4 and everything was swell again............
