The funny thing is that I dont think that Ed Likes our stuff very much

Hey BP, I've always appreciated what you guys do. But it was just a matter of not having the itch for any of the stuff I had on hand. All the good things I've said about the basses I've reviewed was/is 100% true, but they never seemed like something I'd use for what I do. However, that has changed! The Sterling by EB stuff just hit me. I don't know why, but those two (SB14 and Ray34) just felt right to me.

I also never tried one of your basses with flats on it... a big mistake!

As much as people think of me as a slapper (and the EB stuff kicks ass at that), I virtually NEVER slap on a gig - only on my video demos. Hell, I play honky tonk music 90% of the time, and the vibe is old school, passive... you know... the "F" word. But..... the SB14 kicked ass on my country gig, so... it's flats for that sucker! Yeehaw and God Bless Merle Haggard!

I'm very happy to have some EBs to play that I really dig. I've always liked all the folks the folks at the company, and from what I've seen first hand... you're a rare individual when it comes to being the head of a major instrument manufacturer. You know as well as I do that not many of your peers spend time talking to folks online. I've seen how much you do for your people, it's a groovy thing. There's a lot of heart there, can't say that about too many people in your position.

Okay, enough with the fanboy trip. Jack is gonna wet himself!

That was a one handed compliment....Thanks Ed....I really tried to pick the right partner with the Park Family and they knocked it out of the park...(no pun intended)

As for slapping...I suck. I have been having fun playing with machines and sometimes you end up having to stop yourself from slapping.....
thanks for the good words Ed...Stick around!

Okay everyone, take your meds...:D

Thanks. I'll try to pop in more often, I'll need to get out of my secret internet lair once in a while!

Anyway, the SB will be seeing a lot of dim lights, thick smoke, and loud, loud music in the upcoming future!

Hey Ed,

Any vids of you playing some honky tonk? The cajun/zydeco band I play in is doing some and I'm looking for more than just a root 5 style. Funny thing is, coming from the Northwest, I never thought I'd be playing country music.

Welcome to the family, Ed. Your collection of basses is about to grow. ;)

Honestly, this forum just can't get better than this, up until today I have been pinching myself to make sure that I wasn't dreaming about the fact that the actual company owner (BP) would partecipate in a forum of discussion about these wonderful instruments, but now we also have Ed Friedland in here too??

Not only that but guitarist here have the pleasure to have Steve Lukather and Albert Lee also partecipating in this forum.

This is like heaven!

Like that's never happened before. ;)

Jack maybe you should have ed over to the purple den

Good idea, BP. Ed, if you ever have some time to kill in DFW we need to hook up at Jack's place for basses and imbibing.

Well, I'm going to be at Dan's in Denton on the 18th and we get rooms, so maybe I can come by on the way up or down. Of course... a pit stop at Jack's means an overnight 'cause I'll be in no shape to drive!

I'm very interested in the new axes too, I talked with Derek about reviewing the Big Al and the 25th, and GW is definitely down for that. I don't know if they'll want to put some space in between the Sterlings and those, but they will get done for sure.

Saw a nice BFR Sterling 5 at the Bass Emporium today, rosewood neck... very cool.

Not that I know of, but frankly... you should stick to the roots and 5ths! I don't do anything "cool" on my country gigs. You have to be willing to play it the way it's supposed to be played, or piss people off. I say, play the most obvious thing and groove the hell out of it.

You mean we'd be 'tired'?

Dan's is on my calendar and hope to drag a few yokels along for the ride. Looking forward to it. The guest room here has a comfy bed, too - and I should know. We'll leave the porch light on just in case and just ignore the hounds barking.
