A bit about ourselves....

Right guys I am all booked up for the Open House now.

Its obvious from posts that lots of you know (know of) each other, but I thought it might be a good idea if attendees (or anyone else on the forum) just put a few words about who they are/where they are from/what they do etc so us latecomers can catch up.

I'll start it off.

My name is David Barlow. I am 37 years old, been playing since I was 16. I used to write software for a living, I now own a property rental/management/development company. I live in St Albans UK (about 20 miles North of London). I own 13 guitars - 5 of them are EBMMs (the others are Taylor, PRS, Tokai, Godin). I am not in a permanent band at the moment due to having 2 young 'uns and a job that takes too many hours of the day - hoping this wil change soon.

Favourite bands and players - Ty Tabor of Kings X, Francis Dunnery, Lukather/Carlton, Petrucci, Bettencourt, Pablo Gilberto.......

and I am totally looking forward to meeting you guys in SLO in September!

Dave

Hey I don't want to hijack this thread, but isn't there a giant thread of this nature?
I was trying to remember what it's called.
The search function wasn't any help.

(anybody reading this and it suddenly doesn't make sense, it's because there were 2 threads of this nature. I asked the moderators to merge the 2. So this is where the new thread is attached to the older one! - keep on reading!)

Isn't the thread called "Who is your daddy and what does he do?"

Anyways----

I'm Pete DuBaldo, 24, and I get the (sometimes dis) pleasure of running the family music store, DuBaldo Music Center. I've been doin this gig since Bruno retired in Aug 2002, after 49 years in the biz. I've been playing guitar for 9 years or so, and only in the last 3 years have I taken guitar somewhat seriously. In addition to working at the music store in the mornings, I work full-time in the afternoon/evenings at an independent pharmacy, playing pharmacist.

I personally have 5 electrics and 2 acoustics. The electrics are as follows: Black 1967 Gibson Flying V, a Floyd equipped White '87 Kramer American Pacer Deluxe, a loaded Blue Dawn '01 Petrucci, a teal frankenstien Chandler/Dimarzio/Alembic mutt, and a Trans-red flamed maple custom 7 string neck through mahogany w/ a Floyd. The acoustics are: 1980s Takamine something, and 2004 Cort Earth 1200.

I will be at the open house in Sept, lookin forward to meeting everyone there!

If we're updating or starting fresh ...

I'm Michael, a 42 year old commercial mortgage banker. 1 wife, 1 child, and more guitars than talent. Got back into playing after a long layoff although I wasn't to good to begin with - even took up some lessons again.

Ive got my envy green AL, a lime green Reverend workhorse junior, a Seagull accoustic and an Ibanez RKB900 bass just for fun. I actually played bass before guitar when I was 13. Playing is strictly for my own enjoyment although I have started talking to the drummer I used to play with in high school to upgrade his equipment :) .

I'll be at the open house. Sounds like it will be a great weekend.

I sold an early 90s Jackson soloist 2 years ago that I really hate myself for selling...... uh..... I'm getting off track.... so... Yeah.

Off I go,

Tom, 28 (29 when the open house hits the deck, yep, 9/11 is my B'day), living in a small town in Belgium, some 8000 miles away from you guys, PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, working for the Belgian devision of a major US pharmaceutical firm since 07/18/2005. Been playing guitar since I was about 10, had a collection of 13 guitars, mostly G****ns, now down to 8 (two EBMM's, one custom made tele by my uncle, a Gibson J200 and a Gibson LP Studio and Junior on sale at the moment, one Aria classical guitar and eagerly awaiting the Y2D, hmm). Extremely looking forward to the open house, although I still have to find some time to book me a hotel room, but things will work out. At the moment hardly finding time to read and post over here due to my new work, my 4 weeks old son and the lack of sleep.

I'm trying though.

Cheers, Tom.

Well, sadly I cant make the open house, but I will be in Vegas from August the 14th on the look out for more EBMM toys!!

But I will introduce myself anyhow. My name is Tim O'Sullivan, I am 30 years old and have been playing since I was 13 and live in London. I work for a company that makes Television broadcast equipment, and play in 4 or 5 bands on a semi-pro basis. I currently do 3 gigs a week on average. I have 4 balls. All hard tails, I have an EVH, Axis, Axis SS, and a rosewood fingerboard Axis on its way from Nevada. I also own a Guild Brian May, Aria PE1200 and a hard tail Wolfgang. I periodically suffer from a bad back, and wear one contact lens!

Hey moderators!
Is there a way to merge this thread with the new "A bit about ourselves" thread?
I think this is a cool thread and should go on for a very long time!

Since only a few of you have posted here in this thread, is it too much to ask for you to cut/paste or repost in the "Age and Occupation" thread???

It's the original!!!!!!

40, I work in life insurance , one 3 month old baby boy and two step kids.

I have been playing guitar for 15 or 16 years, but I have hardly had time to touch it for the last 5. I managed to get to grade 4 classical at the Royal Conservatory, bought my first and only EBMM (a Silo) in '97.

Now I vicariously live my guitar dreams through this web-site.
