Maybe Stealth will be the color that does it for her.

Here's the list of the ones that have failed to impress and turn on:

1.) Warwick Corvette Standard w/active elec. (well, yeah..but it was an early one)
2.) Roscoe SKB-3005 fretless in Boxelder Burl (sold to finance new central air unit)
3.) Wal MkIII 4-banger in red-stained Quilt Maple (still got it)
4.) Modulus Quantum 5 in Black Stone over Figured Maple (oh yeah, got that one)
5.) Blue Pearl Bongo 4HH (my baby)
6.) Peavey Axcelerator 2-T freltess 4 in black (yes, I know...but nice bass still)
7 ) Bongo 5H in Rolls Burgundy (what was I thinking?)
8.) Stingray 4 in Buttercream (traded for Bongo 5H)
9.) Stingray 4 fretless in Translucent Teal (thanks mommy, merry yule to you, too)
10.) Stingray 4 2-band in White (on its way to James)
11.) Axis Sport w/piezo and MM90's (whoa, this is one nice gee-tar!)

Suddenly I get the feeling I've been going about this whole sex thing all wrong. Perhaps I should have played the euphonium.

Have you tried a Fireglo RIC yet? :D

You see Jack eyeballing Tim Dawson's Stealth???? Oh yeah Ben...I give it a week or two after he's back max.

Yeah, LB already baited me with a Reverend trade, and you know how much he loves that bass!

The seeds have been sown, as Jack will read this thread and rub his chin...:D

I had to ask, didn't I?...:(
Just consider the huge increase in the birthrate compared to PT Barnum's generation. What would that come to, one every 9.75 seconds?

Jack,

I know that the real reason behind your visit to Peru is to sneak behind my back and make contact with the luthier who builds custom instruments for my store, and try to pry him away from me.

You could just ask and I would give you his addy - he is in Lima, and has an acoustic electric in the works for my store. Check your PMs and get back to me :p

BTW, there is something en route via USPS to your house - no it's not an angry drunken midget.

Seriously RIC, you asked if anyone had tried 'FireGlo' RIC, and OK I poked fun at the question, but why did you ask that question that way?

I may be wrong, but isn't 'FireGlo' just a finish option? No other difference? What if I ask "Has anyone tried a Stealth Bongo?" or "....Sparkle 'Ray?". What am I asking? Will I get any [serious] answers like "15 minutes with the 'Sparkle' and I traded my 'Onyx' on the spot. The tone just flattened me." ?

Maybe it's not a tone or playability question? Is it a chick magnet question? OK, I have many basses in many finishes. Chicks dig attractive wood in transparent or natural-looking tints [like amber]. Maybe they think an orange, black, gold, etc finish looks automotive? and they wonder why a guy is on stage with something resembling a 4-wheeled penis substitute and so they assume the owner comes up short on the real thing?

Anyway, the best chick magnet appearance package in my stable is deeply tinted curly maple, with large MOP inlays on a black ebony FB. Brand is not an issue. Maybe if it said Gucci or Rolex on the head, then it would be? It's a very conventional looking shape, BTW.

Of the same large and varied stable, **THE** ax that draws the Ooohs and Aaaahs on sight, from all players, of all instruments, is very plain looking, very conventional and business like: a blank plank StingRay FL4, clear gloss over light ash, plain black PG. I'm telling ya, keyboard players keep their left hand in their pocket, out of respect I suppose. Geetards get nervous twitches. Singers apply extra lip gloss and eye-liner. Drummers smile and nod [OK, I know drummers do that a lot anyway..., but this is *extra*].

No offence or poking fun here, but please clarify what **IS** the question posed when you write

"Have you tried a Fireglo RIC yet? :D"

I left your emoticons in the quote, cuz maybe they are important? But they don't tell me anything, paired up like that...

Ahhh...OK....since you have asked....you obviously take your basses WAY to seriously, IMO...so since my reply to a list of basses, "that have failed to impress and turn on" was simply, Have you tried a Fireglo Ric? :D

Now let me explain. IMO, the Fireglo is the most attractive of their finishes. Since I have been getting chidded pretty good on this site, the faces WERE A JOKE, and trying to convey my sense of humor to you, which you apparently missed completly.

Now a question for you...why do you need to compare instruments with sexual organs or vica versa?

Geez, takes a little backtracking but I'll *try* to edit tightly:
1.You ask if I/we/anyone has tried a certain ax, specifically of a certain appearance package.
2. Since the appearance pkg was specified I speculate that maybe the *performance* of said appearance pkg is of some importance.
3. Since I can't hear an appearance pkg, I wonder by what function to judge its performance.
4. Since in nature, and greatly so in human artifice as well, all appearances are either for camouflage or to attract a mate........etc etc and I guess that from there you can get the point.
4-B, section III, pargraph 9c. Apology: I am sorry that I didn't realize that FireGlo was a form of camouflage. I had assumed it was 'that other thing'.

And please note that lately I have described my Bongo as looking like a mollusk in the process of devouring a guitar neck. In some quarters that may be sexual inuendo, but I haven't visited those quarters [yet].
