Thom can probably give a pointer or two but the best way I know of protecting the signatures is to put it in a display case out of direct light and not play it.

Now that one you signed is going to get the living crap gigged out of it. I don't have a history of beating basses up on a gig though. I play root notes and I am old. LOL

LOL ,I stink compared to everyone I met, but ask BP about the SR5 I gigged for a year.

Play them just know what it is you have in your hands. You love it enough it won't get scratched.

JP's my favorite guitar player, and I don't even want JP to sign my guitar. He gets to sign on the inside of the backplate.

One of these days, I'll bring the backplate to my 20th Ann. Silo to an EBMM get-together, and I'm going to ask to get you, Dudley, Drew, and anyone who had a big hand in the creation of that guitar (Dargin, I guess, right? For coming up with the tone block idea...right?) to sign the inside of that.

As I mentioned earlier, I saw the rack of EBMM guitars behind the stage, and even thought about shunning my Gretsch and F*nd*r for one of them, but I wasnt that brave.....

my girlfriend on the other hand said she wanted to look like a rock star, so....

now I really wish I had tried one...

Well, I don't know. It's my number one bass now. Single Hummer red Bongo 5 - what else do I need? It's been my main bass for a while now. So I had this little silver Sharpie (thanks, TKarter!) on my table and I thought, "Well, I never get Sterling to sign anything for me...."

And of course I was just a BIT tipsy and feeling expansive and loving everyone and the world was all warm and beautiful and - let's face it - as I believe enJoNeer said, "It's a love-fest in there."

So then there was Dudley (and I don't get tongue-tied around many people, but I always end up staring blankly at Dudley, thinking "My God, it's actually Dudley") so I thought "Well, Dudley, too, yeah!" And then the fever overcame me and it ended up signed by everyone in the general area.

And I'm not sorry at all except I don't know how to protect it. The back of the bass is covered with signatures and I don't want them to get smudged.

Anyone have any experience with this? I mean, I don't care about the 'value' of the bass, it's not going anywhere (true even before the signatures) but I still want to play it without losing the signatures.

I used to have an Epiphone Jack Casady bass and a friend of mine who knew Jack got him to sign the pickguard for me. I purchased a set of these:

Cut to fit the shape of the pickguard, stuck it on there, and it worked great. You could probably do the same for the back of your Bongo.
