In my opinion, the 500k pots made the tone a little brighter. And a little more snappy. For my taste, I prefer it.

I owned an Albert Lee for a while. Great guitar but I figured I am more of a bridge humbucker guy myself. I seriously toyed with the idea of adding a Humbucker to the bridge, but wimped out. Yours looks great!
