Different serial number, but probably a sister. Mine also has a hand written number 1 on the back of the headstock. So, someone appreciated how good it is.

Oh my gosh, zoom in on the back of that Messina headstock. It looks like a number 2 was once there in sharpie, but has been rubbed off.

I have Jim Messina’s number 1.

The body is a single slab of highly figured and flamed swamp ash.

I've got a few AL's in my collection, most of them I bought/adopted/rescued used.
And the older they are, the sweeter they sound and play... all that mojo they've absorbed over the years really comes through...

Anybody remember the neckthrough black Albert - I think a prototype back in the day ?
Two humbuckers B4 Als had them.

they're the stock HH 'tele' knobs. Kind of hard to tell in that pic though, now that you mention it...

I think our old friend Smellybum had some photos of it.
It caused quite a stir at the time as there were no Als with humbuckers - it had a set neck too.
