Hey, spoke to Albert about this site. He said he tried to log on but kept getting booted off. But he did read this thread. I am not sure what other threads he read, But I do believe that he will attempt to get on again. He did mention Sterling asking him to do so. So keep your eyes open...

Man, what a great night. Albert Lee was great and the place is very cool and intimate for a show. Got there early, grabbed a snack and hung out waiting for the show.

He broke out a gorgous Pinkburst SSS AL with tremolo and used it for most of the night. He also played a Gibson Les Paul Custom (Black w/ 3 hums). I was checking out his gear and starting talking to him about his AL (among other things) He mentioned that the AL he was using he had for about a year. The pinkburst finish is incredible and I took some sweet pics of it. I was telling him that I have been searching for a pinkburst for awhile now and how they only pop up on Ebay once in a blue moon, he said there out there, just a matter of finding one.

Basically, it was a night filled with awesome covers of rock & country classics. Everything from Jerry Lee Lewis to Johnny Cash. It was fun to watch all of the musicians showcase thier abilities, of course I was there for Albert and needless to say I was not disappointed. Most of the songs were nice long jams were everyone was given the chance to shine. His guitar sound is just so sweet live, and the double stops and jangly chords & licks are amazing.

I may be wrong on some of the names but his band consisted of;

Don Scott - bass - he launched into a ridiculous Johnny Cash medley and later, a Hank Williams Sr. medley, both of which were incredible.

Tony Neuman - drums- great sound, solid drummer, and you can tell he just loves to play.

Junior Bentley- keys - another great voice and great keyboard sound

the owner of the E String Grill & AJ's Vintage Guitars (I forgot his name) - guitar - a tasty player in his own right, he does some nice slide work and it's obvious that he comes from the Clapton school of playing, but he does it very, very well.

I have some pics that I should be posting tomorrow, I wanted to take some more tonight before I put them up on photobucket.

He has had that 3 pick up Les Paul (same as mine !) for a long time. He mentions it on one of his DVD's - I'll have to dig it (the cd) out 'cos I can't remember what he said about it!!

Yah but BP did say that the AL is gaining in popularity:cool: AND the female population of guitarists is on the rise sooooo maybe just maybe he might bring it back :) i mean if they still have the paint whats the difference if they spray a few pinky's every once in a while hehehehehehe:D

JUst a couple of things to add to the report, its actually Junior Brantley on keys,he was in the fab tbirds and roomful of blues, he is kinda a legendary milwaukee musician also plays with jimmie vaughan. you can hear him on jimmie's cds.

and the other guitar player name is pete trauth, hopefully spelled right. you should see his 335.

The les paul custom that AL played was claptons. a real treat for AL to bring it out. its a 58 if that was not mentioned. I will try to add to the piks, but I am sure pug has it covered.

Thanks for the corrections, I couldn't remember Pete's name at all. You're right that '58 Les Paul is delicious

More to come.....

Many thanks, Albert!

Well, I made it out to vegas for the Saturday show. Brought my albert with me to loan Pug as he's without his for a while and he's gonna bring it back when we hook up at the dregs show in san juan cap on 1/19.

Good thing I brought it, too. During the intermission, I went up to Albert and said I have mine in the car, would he mind posing for a picture with it? He said sure go get it.

So Pug goes and gets it, gives it to me, I hand it over to Albert and say, "ya know, I was tempted to ask you if you wanna give her a go during the 2nd set, but the fretboard needs cleaning (the frets had some oxidation).

Albert checks it out and says, I'll play it for a tune.

It gets better. :)

So he poses for a couple of quick pix with me and pug, then takes the guitar on the stage and tunes her up and puts it next to his pink one and the black Les Paul.

The second set starts out with Al playing keys on the first 3 tunes. 2 solo piano and one with the band...then he picked up my honeyburst Albert...(wait for it) and played it for the entire 2nd set!! Might be just that I was in awe of the whole spectacle but he seemed more energized and was definitely ripping more tasty, and longer solos in the second set.

If you read this, Albert...Like I told you after the set, that was a really special treat watching you play my axe. Many many thanks. We had a blast
