Those pictures look a lot like this... a regular ole translucent stingray

The ad pictures just aren't that exciting, so you can't blame people around here for not jumping around like crazy... but the OP pictures. THAT is awesome period... just a sweet sweet bass. Fooled us good with that ad!

I'm just saying that having a few more available for people to buy vs order blind or else would have been nice.

I'm done... sorry for the derail & stepping on OPs toes & annoying the general forum

Good luck guys

Look at this ad... Honestly it does not sell these instruments as much as the OPs pics. Its not even close.

Just wow, they over delivered in a huge way. They could have easily sold more

Who knew they would come out THIS good based on this ad? Just a fantastic bass OP, lucky dog

I agree the promotional ad could have been better. For us Bongo guys it was real easy- BONGO MADE OUT OF MAHOGANY= ARE YOU FREEKIN KIDDING ME= NO BRAINER! Sorry it was so hard for you guys but we had it easy. ;)

We knew going in that the flyer was only a mock-up to give us an idea of what was on tap. Being that it's a Music-Man I myself knew they would be top-knotch and would be happy with the product. There were others who wanted in desperately but just didn't have the funds. That's what I meant by selling our firstborn.

I just hope they do this EXACT thing real soon... I honestly cant buy a Reflex until then, these came out so damn nice.
I wasn't playing 5ers when they had the window open regularly but since I moved to em, I made a thread about buying a Reflex HH5, then this...

I'm going to play my Bongo HH5 until they do this again, have no choice now, its going to be a LONG LONG wait. These are THAT nice.

I've talked to A LOT of people today from this forum & TB. NOBODY knew these would come out this nice & I've had a few say they would EASILY have dropped the coin if there were a few around now OR the ad represented them better. Just one Reflex HH5, can't believe a PDN didn't see the opportunity to load up on a few of these ESPECIALLY with a bass that doesn't have a black pickguard to cover it up!

Dude.. I know it may not be exactly like what this is, but I have a sinking suspicion you may find something similar at guitar center's platinum room in the coming months. Whenever Ernie ball does a PDN if seems like Guitar center gets something just a little west of normal too.. To the guy with the one off reflex.. Crazy...

You nailed it. Exactly. A combination never before seen on a Bongo...that us regular folk could actually buy. When I was reading the bullet points for the ad I was already jumping out of my pants after bullet point #2...imagining that config on a Bongo. Then I squinted like hell at the little asterisk at the bottom...praying the Bongo was not excluded. As you say...No Brainer.

The way I see it, the Reflex is also an extra special model in this config as it was never previously available in a Trans finish or in Mahogany but I'd guess there was just a much bigger pent-up demand for a Mahogany Bongo than for the Reflex....especially with the cult following and all. :)

Tuna....I can totally see point though...being disappointed that the dealers didn't order more. I don't know their business or the sales success of the Reflex, mind you, so maybe they saw the idea of stocking up on this model of Reflex as a bit risky - particularly in shaky financial times. ??

It's just too bad your GAS for a Reflex 5HH didn't come a few months sooner. :( Hopefully Erin is right and you get a second chance at something else along these lines.

Laneline....astounding new pics you've added!! Wow.

Man....you know you're gonna make a few people cry. ;)

Thanks, this run really is pretty wild. My dream bass for years has been a full (front and back) Burst 5HH with cream binding, so as much as I wanted the Bongo I just couldn't pass on this. It came out way past my expectations. And it's a huge plus they kept the maple top on it.

FYI: It IS available in a Vintage Sunburst trans finish, and has been since it was introduced. Although it ISN'T available in Mahogany. :) music-man-reflex-made-for-you-vintage-sunburst-9013-p.jpg

Laneline, that is awesome. Congrats. For those lamenting that they missed out, all I can say is that EBMM keeps topping itself with these LEs and PDNs. I bought a black sugar roasted Big Al single H during the order window for those, although I'm not generally a fan of black basses, because I was waiting for a special Big Al and loved the roasted neck. No regrets, it's a killer bass. In retrospect, if I had known I would be able to order a honeyburst Big Al w/roasted neck down the road I might have waited, though I do agree that the Bongo and Reflex stand out most in this configuration. Wouldn't surprise me if there's something equally drool-worthy next year.
