i have one and love it!!!! the only guitar other than my jp6 i use is my LP w/ p90s cuz they're so damn different (my sig below has a list of my other guitars)

Pre EBMM Petrucci - I owned 9 electric guitars.
Post EBMM Petrucci - Now down to 4! A P90 loaded Nathan Sheppard, a Tele and Starfield.
When I ordered the EBMM, I was looking for a viable, high quality alternative to Ibanez as I've had QC problems with the last 4 Ibanez guitars I've owned. The Music Man Petrucci came along, I hardly played the others and the guitars I've kept or purchased since are ones with unique tones that the JP can't replicate that well. When recording, I would bring along 3 or 4 guitars, but always ended up playing the JP 95% of the time.
If you do decide to get one, I strongly advise that you get the piezo option as that expands the tonal abilities of this guitar immensely.

Yes.
It's the best playing guitar I've ever owned. You'll find it won't just be a studio guitar - you'll play it everywhere. My other guitars are lonely and envious.

I own my and love mine but I was also a very specific "niche" customer. I wanted a super strat style guitar with piezo and seven strings. I love my Pet like no other ever.
That being said, it is a very versatile guitar. Are you going to fool anyone on tape that it's a strat, tele, paul, or rick? No way. Is it a great playing and sweet toneful bolt on guitar with humbuckers? Hell yeah. I snuck mine on blues recording I'm producing right now and if you know the difference you can definitely pick it out. It still sounds cool and has it's own vibe though.

Would help to know what you have and are currently using.
And like a previous comment, the piezo adds a whole nuther dimension.
Petruccis seem most available of all EB guitars, so get to a gc near you and spend a chunk of time with one, if you fall in love with it, consider ordering one with a piezo.

Yes, definetly worth the $$$. Hands down the most comfortable
guitar I've ever played. Have you tried one in person yet? When
I did, I was completely hooked and had to get one.

Yes the Petrucci is a very nice guitar to play, sounds great, is even better with the piezo, any Ernie Ball Music Man guitar is nice to play.

The Petrucci 6-string is great, worth every penny, and yes I'd buy one if I were you.
It will make you want to play guitar more than you do now.. even if that seems impossible.
Just don't ask slukather to choose between his Petrucci and his Luke's. His head may very well explode. But that sort of thing happens regularly around here.

You should see me when l go to band practise, normally l take 2 guitars the petrucci and one of the Lukes, normally thats hard enough, but when l finally get to practise, l sit there and think, now which guitar to use?????? Luckly last night, we were jamming on alot of Dream Theater, so l chose the Petrucci.
and then some original ideas, and was in a very Dream Theater mood. But some of my originals l need a "Luke" sound and some a Petrucci "sound". So l avoided that disaster last night. hehe. What what about next week!?!?!?!?!?! stay tuned. hehe.Scott.

That's good man! I actually call my dream guitar the Petaxis because it's just a Petrucci seven string (with piezo of course) with the see through quilted top and birdseye maple board like on the Axis. Now if EB would just build me one.

I haven't actually, maybe a double neck, Luke/Petrucci. hehe
I guess if l do ever get a signiture Ernie Ball, that's what it would have to be, well that's if Ernie Ball would have me.
