I am. I've been wanting to pick one up for the past year or so since I've read all the raves on here about them, but I knew it was getting pretty long in the tooth for modern digital gear. I didn't want to pick up an Ultra and have the value of it chopped in half or less shortly after I bought it in case it doesn't work for me as well as my tube amps. I've been holding out for this for the past year or so!

Same here! Exactly the same actually. I knew there had to be coming a successor to the Ultra and like you I decided to hold out. Seems like our waiting haven't been in vein ;)

Man, I wish I was bright enough to figure all that stuff out. I even fear any pedal that's got more than three knobs - and don't even get me started on switches! I guess I really am getting old! :)

I have been holding out for over a year and a half then finally decided to buy the Ultra about 3 mos ago! i was a bit perturbed when I saw the announcement - just my shallow need to want the latest and newest product, but i stopped whining and plugged into my Ultra and realized nothing had changed, I'm still happy with what the Ultra does--simply amazing. I'm curious to see some a/b comparisons by some once the Axe II is out in the market for awhile to see if there is indeed a substantial difference. I might wait a year or so, sell my Ultra and upgrade--maybe not. the fractal forum has been flooded with posts this last few days...been interesting:)

I'm in the same boat as Tanax and Guitfiddle, just been waiting for the new one. Although, I may need to sell one of my JPs to afford it....doh! Anyone interested in a JP?!

So Chaka, how comfy are you with your ultra after 3 months??? Is it a quick learn????? Cuz these things sound like a dream come true, but I'm not one who likes manuals and such.

When I get around to selling off some of my excess toys, I'll pick one up. In the meantime, I'm more than satisfied with my Ultra.

I remember when the first pod came out and ampfarm before that. No one wants either now. Give me a great amp anytime. I like what the afe fx does though, it is special

I hear ya Colin. I won't be parting with any of my great amps, but there are a few good ones I'll probably shift in order to get the Axe FX II. Even if I only end up using it for the effects, re-amping and connectivity, it'll still be worth it. I have a feeling that I'll always want a great tube amp to move the air though.

I'm so glad that I'm happy with the tones from my guitars, tube amps and pedals.... not enough time in the year(!) to sit down with something that feature packed / complex!

Do these things really have the feel and dynamics of a good tube amp? It would have to be spectacular to rival my Dr Z!

well actually quite comfortable now with the basics. I can put a preset together in less than 2 minutes for sure. it can get as complicated as you want or really as simple as you want. learning curve for me at first; I read all sorts of guides etc..also the axe wiki is a great reference but with all the reading I did...the best way to learn was to put down the manuals and just play with it. also downloading other users presets is handy to see how something is put together. I never use the hardware itself but rather the software edit which is very intuitive. if i was using just the hardware to figure things out--I would have gone squirrly by now. The main thing for me to figure out was the I/O stuff--how to route things with my JP6/piezo. once i got one preset with that configuration i just copied it. I love it for running piezo simultaneously--very 3d and rich sounding with some chimy cleans.

I may splurge for the Axe II in a year or so after I see what the hype will be about.
