Axis and Metal?

Can an Axis handle metal at all? If so, does anyone have any clips of them playing metal on an Axis?

It's grunge but they obiously have a huge Black Sabbath influence which is metal to me. Just not speed metal.

Hmmm, Pagan's Mind isn't really all that heavy. I'm guess I'm trying to see if it's capable of not only classic metal (which I would imagine it can do), but also more modern type of metal (not nu metal, but stuff like heavy Dream Theater, Mastodon, Strapping Young Lad, etc.)

Interesting, cool little video there. The soloing sounded pretty good, a little brighter than his usual sound, maybe it was the recoring, who knows. I wish he would've played some heavy riffs there! By the way, the guitar he's playing looks like a Sport, look at all those knobs.

Hehe, I know the 2 frets are missing, but can it handle metal? I love my JP to death, but I'm looking for a guitar to go along with it. I guess I'm trying to go in my own direction as far as guitars, even though the Axis is almost identical to what EVH used. It just seems like I keep turning towards sig guitars when I buy a guitar. I'm trying not to, but I wish there were more Music Man guitars to choose from.

I also highly recommend a Luke. There's an EMG 85 in the bridge that could do what you want.

I find that the closest thing tonally to my Axis SS is a Gibson Les Paul Classic but the ASS is more versatile, looks better, costs less, and EBMM isn't run by jerks with high-priced sue-crazy lawyers.

The Axis SS can definitely rock with the best of them. Plenty of high gain cut available on tap 24/7.

Cool, what do you guys think as far as the similarity between the Axis and EVH? Do you think it's too much like a signature guitar? I really like the looks of the guitar, but at the same time I'm not really interested in another sig guitar. I guess I'm becoming a lot more conscious about that kinda stuff now.

The original design was in place before EVH came over. The changes that were made improved the comfort of the instrument Imho and it stands on it's own as a seperate entity (especially w/o the EVH signature on the headstock).

Alright, good to hear. Do you play metal on yours at all? I know Axis guitars aren't the most metal looking, but I'm looking for an all around type of guitar. Jazz, Jam, Metal. That's basically what I play.
