Hello

I am back from my vacations : 2 weeks in Ireland. What a beautiful country !
2 weeks of sun ! I never saw the rain (well the Irish people I met told me that normally it never happens).

Lot of beautiful landscapes, nice people, good beers also , and a lot of very good music.
In Dublin, I saw a very nice band : Mutefish

Instrumental music with Irish influences but also a lot of other ethnic influences (reggae for instance).
And the guy on bass plays with a SUB :)

The only thing I miss was my guitars ...

PS for DrKev : I also met very nice Irish cats ...

I love Ireland as well, its a magical place full of people who can tell good stories.

My still loving Ireland has something to do with the fact that I have not lived there for 13 years. Mind you, after ten days of heat and humidity in Paris, I actually miss the cool, the rain, and the gale force winds of an Irish summer. Never thought I'd say that but there you are!

And the Guinness, I know people say its all the same but the best pint I have ever had ( I have drunk a lot ) was in Rosslaire at a nice pub on a lake, think it burned down shortly afterwards. Anyway best Guinness ever!

Rain ??? Are you kidding ? I got SUNBURNS !
Here is a picture of the sport field of the Trinity College in Dublin :

As you can see the grass is burned.

Here in Newgrange :

In Clonmacnoise :

I was expecting rain thus I had only one short trouser !

And only one striped shirt by the look of it? :D

The guy on the photos is my son (I am a bit older you know ! Besides I am unable to stand on my two hands. Gymnastic is not really for me). He had several shirts but when you are 10 years old when you like a shirt it's hard to wear another one.
Here is mine (with my kids and a very FRIENDLY IRISH CAT from Baltimore) :

By the way, we went to the beach (in Connemara but also in Kerry) and we swam :

Irish weather is just an urban legend ;)

looks like you had a fun time, and went to some great places too :)

Yes, a lot of fun.
We made a round trip (I came with my car : there is a ferry from Cherbourg to Rosslare) : Wicklow Mountains, Kildare, Dublin, Newgrange, Connemara, Limerick, Ring of Kerry, South Coast, Cork, Caher, Cashel, Kilkenny ...
My daughter took more than 1000 photos.

From which part of Ireland are you from ?

I am from & live in Kildare, I work in Dublin, quite close to Trinity,

We had a very nice time in Kildare. In fact, we were obliged to go to Kildare, my daughter is crazy about horses, thus visiting the National Irish Stud was compulsory ...

Again you can see that the weather was pretty good

Three more weeks to my vacation! If all goes well I'll be stateside too for a little bit. Who do we know in Buffalo?
If you happen to be there ... give me a buzz. Toronto's not far, and I'm usually just across the border on weekends.
