Not sure how old the guitar is, about 6? Anyway, when I got the guitar I had to send in for some repair work, they wound up giving a me a new body (or so they say), as the stated the paint was bad?? They were great to deal with, etc.... There was a flaw on the new body/paint (see pic on front near neck) but I was fine with it. A couple of year ago it started peeling, chipping. If I was to 'pick at it' I could take a lot off.

I contacted Cus Service and they stated "no longer under warranty".

So, since then I have bought many other guitars, new bandmates etc...and everyone tells me i got ripped off, especially if I went to resell...Good luck with that!

So, I guess i am asking you folks for advice. I was thinking of stripping if i couldn't get fixed.
SHould have acted stronger years ago?!?
Anyone have same issue??
THX!!!! Jake

That's a bummer but you probably should have jumped on it years ago when this first happened. It certainly shouldn't look like this after 6 years or so but it is well out of warranty and EBMM can't be expected to cover it (that could open a large can of worms). If it was mine I would take it to a good luthier and have it redone. Then again, don't people pay extra these days to get this look ? ;)

It's pretty impossible to make a judgement from a few close-up photos. Personally, where I've seen bad finish cracks in guitars, it's usually due to some sort of physical trauma.

In any case, if you've discussed the matter with them and it's not covered, then you basically have to make the call. Only you can say if it bothers you enough to get it refinished.

There are lots of people who do great refin work (MM does as well), so I might get a few quotes and go from there. I know this doesn't help, but maybe look at it as an opportunity to do something wild.

those kind of cracks is what i see on guitars that have been threw change, like going from a warm house to outside in cold weather then back in warm weather again or even in a room where its close to a ac unit or heater,.. and even just leaving your guitar in your car when its super hot or cold out even in a case it still affects it... either way i would look into get a new paint job, or let it be, EBMM and SBMM would never let any guitar leave its shop in anything but perfect condition, yes sometimes a few sneak threw but they will fix the issue fast but as with anything you own after a certain time, the product is no longer covered by a warranty.... sorry this has happened to you.....

Thx every one for the quick feedback! ! Understandable replies. I have used the guitar mainly in furnished basement but have taken out a few times. I guess that could be the case. The only thing that keeps me from really buying that is my other guitars being my 'road' guitars, not showing any damage?

As stated in original post, it had defective paint when I first bought, and the one blemish was there...I should have sent back then ...so they do mess up.
I guess hoping to raise awareness might benefit buyers or business.

Thanks all and keep on pickin! !

Raise awareness of what? Your predicament is unfortunate, but it's certainly not representative of MM's products. And I can't count the number of times I've seen them fix out-of-warranty instruments when circumstances warranted it.

I'm sorry you had this problem, and it's unfortunate that you didn't take advantage of their offer to refinish the guitar years ago. And with that, I'm going to close this thread.
