Texas Finally!
OK serious question:

Most everyone here seems to prefer individual stomp boxes instead of multi-effects. Are there any good multi-effects out there at all that are actually worth it? Otherwise I'll be going the stompbox route!

I prefer multi-effects, have owned a Digitech GNX-4, nice unit, a little difficult to program at least for me but I am old:p

I switched to the BOSS product, had a GT-8 great system and just upgraded to the new GT-10, still learning it but very nice, big bright display window, less knobs easier to work with.

I'd get one of those G systems too, but it's just entirely too much $$$ for me. I've heard nothing but great things (and great sounds) concerning them.

On the surface they are expensive if bought new. But I see them on places like the gear page going for under $1000. Not cheap but when I when I consider all the money spent on my current board which continually changes and becomes more expensive, it's much less. Although there are certain pedals that I would not do away with regardles.

Recent re-build of the board to accommodate the new Wah

I milled it to fit the PP2 underneath, frees up a lot of space. Pedalsnake for cables to the amp, FX loop (chorus, delay, verb and VP to blend them in) and channel switch. I swap other pedals in from time to time. The BB Preamp replaces the RC depending on which amp I'm using.

when you look into how much it would cost for a multi FX rack unit, add a midi foot controller, add a looper & switcher ... it starts to look very cost effective.

and i'm with you on certain pedals need to be kept. that's where the 5 loops come in handy!

Looks good beej...still working on mine.

By the way, beej is the man on pedal board plans...gave me tons of great info. Thank you sir...much appreciated!

Nice! Looks like a ton of fun. How do you like the Tweak Fuzz?

It IS a ton of fun! :D

The Tweak Fuzz - I love it! The demo on the SD site gives a good idea of potential tones (I say potential because no matter how hard I try, I just can't comp Saraceno's tone! :D) One thing though - the manual says to place it first in the chain - it is very very very sensitive to it's placement in the chain, that is for sure, and definitely sounds best in front.

cool board!! who makes that one?

Actually, my brother made it for me. He is good that way - likes to work with wood. I sent him some photos of some Pumaboards and asked him if he could make something like that and this is what he did. He's a good brother - didn't even charge me. Wish my other brothers were like that..........

Oh lordy, I just soiled myself!:eek::eek:

That is one awesome setup Lenny! And don't sweat the paisley - I dig those too! :D

Oh, and BTW - replace that buffered BOSS TU2 with a true bypass Korg PitchBlack - you'll thank me later!

Just thought i would chime in on a little thang.....i try to keep my cable run down to 25 feet total, including link cable on the board ...also the tuner is coming out of the Ernie ball volume so its not in line with the other pedals, BUT if it were that wouldn't always be a bad thing.....lots of guys claim that having at least 1 buffered pedal in you rig helps with signal loss and really wont affect your tone but will actually help by boosting your signal... ...as long as its a decent quality effect....BUT in my case the tuner comes outta the volume pedal,so no concerns .....BUT i did go to the our store and snag a pitchblack,:D really nice tuner for doing intonation it beats the boss hands down and it looks good as well!

Well, I think buffered v. true bypass really comes down to individual preferences while playing alone. I don't think I could notice the difference in a band setting - and if I can't, I'm sure the audience can't (or even cares about my tone, for that matter! :D). Despite all that there are other reasons I dig the Pitchblack. Here are some I posted elsewhere:

"It is smaller than the TU2.

Well, the tuner........

I love it! It fixes everything I disliked about the TU2:

1. It is true bypass - NO HIGH END SIGNAL LOSS!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!! Been waiting for that for a long time (in a tuner pedal under $100)

2. It has only one output - not 2 like the TU2 - I know it's nitpicky but I could never remember which output to use to have the signal killed when I stomp on the tuner. I hate playing that kind of guessing game. "Okay, what does the bypass vs. output output do????? Gahhhh!!!!!!!!!" With the Korg - that is no longer an issue - it mutes when activated. Period. Yeah!!!!!

3. You know how the TU2 kind of skips around the sweet spot when you get near to being perfectly in tune? I've always hated that. With the Korg there is no hazy floating - like it was designed with a guitars frequency vibration in mind! Well done.

4. It's easy as heck to read and see in ANY kind of lighting situation. I actually pointed a halogen work lamp right over it to see how it does in very bright light - beautifully. Very nice feature.

5. It's built like a freakin' tank! Not that the Boss wasn't - but this is good - that tough chassis will take years of abuse.

6. It also will power other pedals too - just like the Boss. Another good feature."
