I mostly play stuff at church now. No band to speak of for the time being. I was wondering if any of you guys could recommend any videos for working on my chops. I need something middle of the road. Nothing too basic, I've been playing bass for about 5 years, but nothing too crazy (advanced slapping and stuff my fat fingers can't keep up with.) Thanks in advance guys. My new Bongo is supposed to arrive today. Bongo head to come.

+1 on Ed Friedland the guy really knows his stuff.

Check out a guy named Anthony Vitti, DaaDoo Music. He is a Berklee instructer and a Kick A$$ bassist as well.
His books and videos deal more with the various funk idioms (fingerstyle, slap ,hip hop etc). Great teacher and fun to watch and listen to.

Lately I have been into the new Victor Wooten "Groove Workshop" double disc set.
It's very different than the more conventional lesson discs out there.
It's basically vic and Anthony Wellington in studio with a class of 6 or 7 players of varying skill levels (one guy has an SR5). There are also some nice Victor solo spots as well.
They proceed to break down bass playing and music in general into both technical and emotional areas. It's very cool as some things are so obvious and simple that I've never thought of them. Other parts are very technical as Anthony demos an excercise displacing 16th notes over a 4 bar phrase. Incredibly fascinating and useful.
Vic is like the guru of bass love and does seem like a genuinely sweet guy but some of the players in the class still s--t their pants everytime he looks at them. I guess I would too with Vic, Anthony and the cameras pointed at me:eek:
It is a great watch though.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind, but this is the site of a new forum member.
I am new to bass and found these to be very good.
