Wow Ernie Ball sure makes a lot of pretty basses. Here are some of the pics I took while I was there.

Is that a LE 5-string Sterling? If so, what is the difference between that and an SR5?

Thanks,

The Sterling 5 has the same electronics/pickups as the recent SR5s...ceramic pickups with the HH/HS models wired in series.

The new SR5s will have alnico pickups like the SR4s. I don't think we've officially heard whether or not the new HH/HS SR5s will be wired parallel or series.

I'm still torn as well. Looking forward to the official shots of the same quality (in neutral lightning) as the teaser photo.

Every time I see the pictures, I think either "Wow, that's cool!" or "Ewww!". :)
Do they still make those Maxima gold plated strings? That would probably be the finishing touch for the 2008 LE. Or maybe even gold coloured frets, although I am sure gold would be too soft for frets.

Seriously pretty stuff. The LE and natural Sterling 5s are very cool...they look like a bass you want to pick up and PLAY!

GAS!

Stunning finish, absolutely gorgeous together with the golden details!

On another note, do all singe H Bongos come with 3-band EQ as standard?

Sterling5 on order!

I just placed my order this afternoon for a new Sterling5 H. It will be identical to the Blue Pearl one with white pearloid pickguard, matching headstock, rosewood fretboard, black pickup cover and chrome hardware displayed at NAMM.

They're telling me 5-6 mths delivery time. I can live with that.

Oh goodie, goodie , goodie!

TD

UPDATE - I changed the color of my order to Rolls Burgundy today.

Denver area.
Maybe it's just the angle/lighting, but this one looks like it has an Ebony board on it. As far as I know that's not an option, but for me personally, that would be sweet. I like the tonal brightness of ebony, and it'd also look great with both the mahogany neck and the black body finish on this particular BFR. Anyone who was there know if this particular one (in the pic) does have an ebony board?

The top on this one in the pic is just perfection. I love when the grain is visible & runs perpendicularly to the figuring like that.

Whoops I almost forgot.
This is the prettiest thing ever. From what I understand there will only be 100 redwood stingrays made.
