I am easily confused (another reason I don't play six string basses) and have been leaping back and forth, hither and yon, to and fro between the forums on the Open House issue.

So...let's get down to brass tacks. You are a bassist? Yes? You are going to the Open House in SLO in September? Yes?

Then could you do me a favor and roger up here? And also, if you're NOT going, then try to stop confusing me. This is not the "I wish I could go but I can't" thread.

I'm trying to get a clear idea how many of us (not those wankers from the "other" forum) will be there.

Gavin, you're going, right?

1. Jon, as far as I'm concerned (and I know, I know, you do play guitar), you're not from the other forum, but I will still gladly sleep in your garage. Um, if there's a coffee machine and an ashtray, that is.

2. Gav, this is too cool. How long have we been "imaginary friends"? (My wife's term.)

3. Is Tony Levin coming or not? If he is, I know we will at least get really good coffee.

i'll most definately be there. i only live a couple hours' drive away and have already booked a room at the Travelodge. I'm also bringing a guest who plays bass as well but doesn't own an EB ... yet. but now that he's coming with me to an EB event he's starting to feel left out and is considering buying one b4 the open house so we dont all laugh at him :)

Bov ... i didn't know you smoked. Here in Cali us smokers are the anti-christ (which is cool and the main reason i haven't quit) so it'll be nice to have a partner in crime.

I lived in Monterey (1992-1996) and remember that feeling, every time I fired up a Winston, even OUTSIDE, that I was being viewed as some sort of sex criminal.

Hey, I don't smoke because I WANT TO.

I smoke because I'm ADDICTED, DAMMIT.

Also because I want to.

So there's that.

random smoking story:
i started college in 1996 and about 1/2 hour after i moved in I blasted some punk rock from my stereo in order to announce my presence to attract the other deviants that had just moved in. literally in minutes there were about 10 guys in my room and we all marched outside to have a smoke. so we're all smoking in front of the building and one of the RA's came by and told us that in Davis CA you cant smoke closer than 20 from a building! crazy ... you can actually get a frickin ticket!

and yes ... i also smoke cuz im addicted and honestly i like it.

Bov ... if this tangent is "ruining" your thread feel free to delete it

I am registered, and have a room booked at the Super 8.

I'm flying in to either LAX or OAK then driving in. I'm flying in by jumpseat, so the destination depends on availability. I still need to reserve a car at each airport.

I'm flying back out on Monday.

I don't smoke, but I worked at Philip Morris for 3.5 years, so I can tell you some great stories about what all really goes into those cigs... and :D

Todd! Another imaginary friend who shall soon become real!

Looking forward to it.....and I think I know what's in my Winstons, but then I also love sausage. Apparently I'm not easily frightened.

I'll be there as well. Like phatduckk, I'm only a few hours from SLO. I haven't reserved a room yet, but it'll be at the Motel 6 North. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys (and the factory tour, of course ;) )!

I'll be there with my wife. We fly into San Jose on Thursday and we'll show up in SLO Friday afternoon. Driving down to San Simeon and staying at the Sands Motel on Thursday night where I'll meet up with kbaim from the guitar forum. He pm'ed me and told me about this place. Staying at the Quality Suites Friday and Saturday. We fly out of San Jose Sunday afternoon about 2:00.
