Hey guys, I'm a little late in posting this, but I recently sold my JPXI7 in order to fund the purchase of this thing, a first run Darklord. I absolutely love it! Big necks are my thing so I love it, and the roasted maple neck makes it sound a bit fuller and ballsier than my standard Y2D.

Congrats. Great guitar for sure. I had one for a bit because the neck was too needy for me(having hand problems at the time). But she's a killer guitar for sure. Enjoy

How heavy is it? I love the reverse headstock. Wish I could get a reverse neck for my luke3 or AL.

Thanks guys. These pics were taken when I first got her. I have since sanded, tru-oiled and waxed the back of the neck and the figuring of the wood is much more prominent now. I'll try to take better shots of her tomorrow.

Also, I already ordered a new back plate, it's supposed to be here in a day or two, then she will get far more playing time!

I wish ebmm would make more models with the reverse headstock. Or maybe make it an option. I really want to customize my jp6 with a reverse, that would be really cool looking. Wish it was possible.

Anyone played both a Y2D and a Darklord? I'd be interested in the differences. I thought I heard the neck was a little beefier. Also was wondering what the pickup covers did for the tone.

Neck is a little beefier, but not a HUGE diff. I don't think the pup covers make much/if any tonal or volumetric diff either. I dig the bigger neck, and the black/chrome l@@k though!
The roasted neck is a bonus, IMO.

Go get'em Tiger! Gio is a great guy too, so transaction should be smooth. He REALLY loves the Y2D series but the nut width has given him wrist problems, otherwise there's no way he'd sell that thing.

I own both and the Darklord definitely has a fatter neck. It's ever so slightly warmer too. Kudos to Dimarzio for using such transparent sounding covers!

hm, well, the PUP covers don't change the sound at all, the neck makes the difference!
it's fatter, it was shaped after a 1959 les paul neck. took me a few days to get used to it, but nw i love it!
more maple on the neck makes the guitar sound a bit "richer" and "fuller". but in the end it still sounds like a Y2D.
but it's roasted! the best thing ebmm had done to maple necks!
