Thanks man. I love it. I'm addicted. I swapped the pots out for some 500k RS audio taper along with a vintage .047 tropical fish capacitor. I also added my favorite knobs, Johnny Hiland signature grip knobs from Martin Six String Customs. She plays and sounds amazing.
Question for you Darklord owners: Mine came with pearl tuner buttons and a normally aligned neck pickup (screws towards the neck). I've seen these with reversed neck pickups and chrome buttons, how did they come from the factory?
Little bit of an update.... I wanted this guitar to sound a bit different from my Purple Sunset Y2D because, well, that one sounds a wee bit better at reproducing Steve Morse's tones. I bought a set of Nickel covered Dimarzio Dominions for another guitar and I didn't like them in it, so I threw them in here. WOW.
The bridge pickup has a bit more low end thunk that i wanted, and the neck pickup does a reasonably "paf" like bluesy tone. Both pickups sound great together and the stock middle pickup matches well with them too. Plus, IT LOOKS GREAT! Super happy with this swap, anyone wanting a slightly heavier sound out of their Morse while still retaining the base tone and versatility should definitely check out the Dominions.
Wow - the new pickups look perfect. I really like the knobs you are using, too.
My Dark Lord came with chrome tuner buttons, but I swapped on some pearl buttons. I really love my DL because the neck is so different than the others in my collection. Although, it is the heaviest guitar I have.
Thanks. I love those knobs, they're Johnny Hiland knobs from Martin Six String Customs. I've put them on most of my guitars... They are really low profile and have the rubber grips on them. I'm always adjusting my volume and tone knobs so they're perfect for me.
I changed the tuner buttons on mine to chrome to match all the rest of the hardware. Mine is heavy as well but I actually prefer that. I absolutely love the neck on this beast, DARKLORD RULES!
