Good Choice...which cab(s) are you pairing it with?

I recently purchased an Avatar B212 Line-X cabinet, but then had it custom wired with Eminence Delta Pro-12A speakers and no crossover or tweeter because I don't like tweeters (like Jeff Berlin). ;)

It's 4ohms, 800 watts and I find it's a perfect match for the Streamliner. Sort of funny that Avatar is now selling GB heads too. I guess I figured something out before they did.

It finally happened. I was at prax last night and the rest of the band was fully turned up, and I finally ran out of headroom with my 500W LM Tube head thru 2 -10s 2- 8s and a 12. (Berg 2x10 + Uber Quad). Until last night, I never had to be concerned about oomph, now I know the MB limit. We were preparing for an outdoor gig this Saturday, where I'll be playing thru a friend's SVT and 8x10. I am kind of glad now that I have a second head, the Streamliner 900, just in case we ever want to get this loud again.

I sincerely hope you were wearing ear protection!

BTW, I'd assume that you didn't hook up enough speaker area and that with two 4x10 or one 8x10 there would have been no problem.

I have a Rumble 350 head and a G-K MB500 head on order for some time now. Still waiting to get the call (6 weeks and waiting). But when they arrive I will report back to you all and see how it compares to the Markbass I have.

Well I never did get the MB500 head. I got tired of waiting so I sold my 4 Ohm 4X10 cab, canceled the MB500 order and picked up the G-K MB210 combo. Its got 2 10's and a tweeter. Rated at 350W at 8 Ohm or add an extension and you've got 500 W at 4 Ohm.

Initial reaction after an hour or so of playing.

I plugged in the Big Al SSS with bridge and middle pups on. The GK has some cool growl. I turned up the "boost" to about half to give it the growl and it sounds cool. The tweeter sucks. I turned it off and don't miss it.

Tried the Bongo 4HH, and the G-K handled the extra rumble that Bongo seems to produce.

Plenty of low end on a 4 string. I don't have a 5er so I can't tell you what it would do with a B string.

How does it compare to the Markbass Little Mark Tube 800? Well, the Markbass is a more "accurate" amp. That is, the G-K seems to colour the sound more. Markbass also seemed to be a bit bigger feel.

Note that to be fair I added the same 15 inch cab to both. So both were 2 10's and a 15. I also played the G-K on half volume while the Markbass was on 1/4 volume.

Bottom line. This G-K cab was picked up as a back-up smaller easier to lug around rig. My main rig is still the LM800 with a Traynor 2X10 and a Traynor 15 Neo cabs. But I like that I can get a different kinda growly yet pleasing tone from the G-K. Its a keeper.

Great report on the GK I was at GC checking out the CLASSIC 5. Put it through the MB210....My attention went FROM the Bass to this CAB.

I kept walloping the B, trying to get it to Fart...Nary a flubby tone. I kept getting up, moving farther from the Cab, while turning it WAYYYY up...That little bugger blew me away..Now..like sorting through the Classic,Bongo,Al, etc etc..etc..conundrum...I'm also sorting through the Combo/Head/Cabs thing too...
