In the UK the GBenz gear is actually a little cheaper and you seem to be able to get discount easier.

What swayed me to Genz was the service.

I'm pretty happy with my Carvin BX500, 6lbs. 500 watts does the trick through an Avatar neo 2x12 and a Carvin BRX210
6lbs + 55lbs + 46 lbs = 107lbs
Actually , comparable weight specs ,lets see Genz Benz STM-900 head 6.5 lbs vs. just under 6 lbs on the BX500 head . Genz Benz Gb-1288T -UQ cab 58 lbs. vs. 55 lbs. on the Avatar Neo 212 cab
6.5lbs + 58lbs = 64.5lbs
Not really a fair comparison...

Neither is comparing a rig with two cabs with 2x10" and 2x12" speakers to a rig with one cab with 1x12" and 2x8" speakers.

But, by all means, you guys keep splitting hairs. It's adding a lot to the thread.

What I like about MarkBass is that the original bass sound is very much preserved, i.e very little colorization unless you use the VLE and VPF filters. But the other mini-amps are fine, too.

FWIW, I've owned quite a few of the mini rigs. Most of my gigs are done with a 1x12" cab.

I've used a Markbass Mark II, a Mesa Walkabout with both Aguilar 1x12 cabs and the Scout combo, Acoustic Image slaved poweramp (800w at 3.5 lbs) with Epifani cabs and LowEnd point to point wired tube preamps, Ampeg Portabass rigs, GK rigs, Aguilar SC500 with various 1x12 cabs, and a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0-12T.

I've been using the Shuttle combo for the last couple of years, and it pairs well with my Bongos and Big Al. I primarily use it with basses equipped with flats and I can get a nice, room filling tone with all of the controls set flat.

I don't really see myself playing any instruments going forward without a 4 band EQ on board so I can shape on the fly. That said, one of my favorite tones is simply the Big Al in passive mode with the tone knob turned down.

The rig I miss the most is the Walkabout Scout combo. With roller addition, it's a very easy to manage 50 lbs.

At the end of the day, it always sounds like me in a band setting.

JK Good stuff though, I guess if I had the extra $$$ I might consider some of the upper level brands. For now I'll stick with the Carvin even though it's resell value sucks

My point exactly...thanks for echoing my sentiments. :)

I wasn't factoring in the 210 cab as it's more of an extension cabinet and is rarely used. The 212 is usually more than enough for the rooms we're in. I guess I should have mentioned that. So if take the 210's weight out of the equation my gigging rig weighs less , touche
sorry guys for all the off topic jibberish, it's all in good fun.

I wish Mesa would hurry up and come up with a super light head as well. I like the sound of some of these amps very, very much. And I believe Marco is a flat out genius. But for personal reasons, I refuse to use any tools that are not American made. Call me a jackass, but that's my stance....

Good luck finding a product where 100% of components are US made. I'd say you have no chance at all in this age of globalised manufacturing. Even "American-made" cars have many parts sourced from overseas factories.
