A early Stingray 5 that I bought used and totally renovated in the early 90´s since it was in such a bad shape. Sold it some 10 years later and found it again last year so it´s now in my care again.....
The pick guard is actually the original pick guard that I slaughtered myself.
Some fine-grained sand paper on the neck and fretboard and then I just used red stain. Don´t remember if I used a brush or a sponge. Long time ago. 20 years. And then lacquer on top of that. That bass sounds great. Lovely tone. I tuned her like the bass strings on a Chapman Stick when I had her. Low D where the G-string usually is and then ascending 5th...... Made a new saddle and tuned her like a regular 5-string when I sold her and that how she´s set up now.
