Well I've owned 20+ Rays over the years and this one is in my all time Top 2!
Poor pics as usual but note the ebony board and strings-thru bridge!
Limited Ebony Special; the 2-band EQ, body wood, and neck feel are tremendous = OUTSTANDING tone!
All this at an amazing 8 1/2 lbs!!! Never had one this light:

Awesome!!! Well done! You sure can find them!
Now you just need a better camera to do those beautiful basses some sort of photography justice. :)

WOW!!! Moondog! That's a beauty! Love the ebony board and stringthrough body.

Such a classic colour combo too!!! Really goes nicely with the ebony!! You are fortunate.

Thanks fellas.

My post is a bit obnoxious  but I'm just thrilled with this one. Thanks to Don (DJ who posted above) for finding most of my best gear ;) Some of my lighter Rays sacrificed some tone but not this one.

If I could have a signature bass, this one is as close as it gets . . . a strings-thru 2EQ Black SR4, tort guard, and dark board w/unmatched headstock. Only thing it lacks is some galatic neck figuring which I go crazy for; however, its simple understated grain pattern is VERY cool too - very clean, no knots, imperfections...

My first ebony boarded Ray and I am so impressed, looks richer/better than RW IMO and snappier than finished maple (my Classic). Ebony should be an option for any MM!!!

Congratulations! It's always interestin to read whether certain combinations of features actually make a difference. Sometimes tone is just so more important than looks ;)

Is this one of the mahogany bodied LEs that were made for Germany, but with a tort guard instead of the stock black?

No, I think those were all 3EQ with matching headstocks, I could be wrong though. These were made in limited numbers for GC.

Congrats; 8 1/2lbs, 2-band EQ, and 1 5/8" neck is my favorite combo as well

?

I am not aware of a "Mary Kaye" StingRay although some of us use that term because trans-white is the same/similar color to the Mary Kaye Strat?

My understanding is "Mary Kaye" was an white blonde strat with GOLD hardware that was named after a guitarist in the 50s . . .
