everyone is entitled to their opinion...and this is a public forum.

people get a little crazy sometime, myself included, but guitars are an exciting hobby and makes people excitable!

its just human nature!

Brent..THis is not a public forum...it is a commercial forum supporting Ernie Ball and Music Man products. Big Difference...

no problem big guy I just have to keep reminding the first amendment guys!

As a moderator on 2 other boards that's my biggest pet peeve.

No, you do nOT have freedom of Speech here or on any other bullitin board *UNLESS YOU OWN IT!*

We are all invited guests of BP and the EBMM company, and while it's obvious they respect our opinions, and even let us disagree, they don't and shouldn't have to put up with posters being rude, beligerant or beating an opinion to death like a week dead horse.

We're ALL invited guests....that can wear out their welcome. A modocum of restraint and courtesy goes a LONG way.

I'm starting to sound like an old fogey at age 32, but it ticks me off that people think internet = No cause to remember their manners.

Thanks for EVERYTHING BP. The great hang, the great products, and your willingness to share with us knuckleheads.

Internet forums can be a volatile place. There are people out there that feed and thrive on negativity. Given the chance, they will stir the pot for all its worth.
As much as it sucks, those are the facts.

The good news is that there are far more good people in this world than Trolls and we are blessed to have many of them here!
We just have to remember to not let the vocal minority get under our skin.
As the weeds sprout, pull them by the roots!

I look forward to seeing more of the fine craftsmanship BP and his team create!
I look forward to hearing more of the cool story's BP and crew have to share!
I look forward to continuing to be a member of this special Family!

this place rules and we all gotta do our little part in making sure it still kicks ass.

personally i would say that the most important thing to keep in mind is "DONT TELL BP HOW TO RUN THE COMPANY". really, its that simple. he's good at it... that's why we're here right? cuz they build/design stuff we love.

Hey . . . I just noticed that after 2 years I'm approaching 500 posts!

(Makes 5 more mindless posts to run the number up . . .)

Ha ha! I know that feeling. I literally have the 1st amendment on my PC so I can just copy-n-paste every word of it to those who accuse me of abridging their "free speech" rights. :D

maybe we can all try to treat each other with respect. To me, that means you can disagree with someone, but still respect their right to voice a contrary opinion.

and this place is pretty cool (just like their guitars)

Well in the very little time i have posting here i have enjoyed learning, hearing about new products....I can tell you no other place does that....Now i'm not saying this to kissa** or anything, but i'm very happy with the products that EBMM produces, and will continue to enjoy them.....to make a long story short lets keep this a happy place.:)

P.S. Now where else to have the opportunity to chat with the likes of John Petrucci, and Luke...how Kool is that.

As an infrequent poster but regular visitor to this forum, I agree with all that has been said about protecting the privileged status we have here.

The only other forum where I've been able to discuss the products with the guys who design and build them and the artists who play them is the Cornford amps forum (and they're a much smaller company than EB/MM).

The fact that Sterling Ball reads and regularly responds to our comments, and artists of the stature of Petrucci, Luke and Morse, chip in from time to time is not something that should be taken lightly - it can just as easily go away.

I think we all need to think very carefully about what we post and consider re-reading our posts before we press "submit". We should ask whether what we're saying is factual, accurate, responsible, courteous, and respectful - we're all entitled to our (private) opinions but we're not necessarily entitled to express them just as we like in this forum. The difficulty is compounded by the medium - the written word can come across in a way that is brutal even when the intention is the opposite - there is no tone of voice or any cues from body language that we get in other contexts.

I also think that any kind of thread where the subject is "the best/worst is so-and-so is..." are often unhelpful because not everyone can agree and there aren't any objective criteria for deciding whether "Awake" is a better/worse album than "Octavarium" (for example). We may have a preference and have reasons to "justify" our preference but that is as far as anyone can go in the absence of a "gold" standard.

Thanks for reading...

A company decides to stay in touch with their enthusiasts, so they foot the bill to fund a forum for them, and even assign a few of their paid employees to moderate it. Along come a few twits with power issues, who decide it’s their God-given-right to blast the sponsor of the forum and his products with their petty grievances. Ain’t that a nice kick in the ass?

Fortunately, BP is a mature and savvy guy who keeps his head, or I’m sure this forum would have been scrapped by now. Personally, I prefer moderated forums over non-moderated, and the leadership which always starts at the top determines the pitch and tempo of the tune.

My hat’s off to you, BP, and to your crew.

Dear Mr. Sterling "Big Papa" Ball--

I would like to take a moment to say thank you for everything you're doing and have done for the music community. I've talked extensively about you with my local shop and speak nothing but praises about you and your company. You are such a generous man who honors the word of a man and the significance of a promise. You truely are one of a Kind Mr. Ball... You give back more to your customers than any other campany I know...the legacy that was built and you continue to push forward is beyond amazing, and it truely should be the standard for how a company is run.

I've come to this conclusion... Mr. Ball... you care so much about your company and your clients that it's only out of appreciation to us that you give so freely of your time and set down with us and share your thoughts and insight. Which to me is priceless. Mr. Ball... I'm not blessed with the finances to purchase one of your instruments to support your lavish lifestyle... but I would like to say from my heart... with all sincerity... Thank you!
