Can I order my lefty Bongo yet? Will the dealers know first? Should I start calling Bass-Central yet, I've got'em on speed dial?

Just checking,

Deep breath, Chuck! I know what it was like to wait for mine, and I' m a righty... I can only imagine your pain. Your time will come and you will then be one of us :D (for better or worse)

Hmmm....Are you sure it wasn't just the Peach Ray5 he's been playing for years?

Andrew

I know that he has an older one since the lates 80's with black knobs and PU.
and a new one for the 2003/04 Growing Up tour. He mentioned it during the Growing Up rehearsals, I have seen him holding the new one with the other older one on a stand in the background.

Who is that? That's not Tony.

Andrew
He's Tonys bass tech Michelle. All the techs and stage hands wore orange costumes.

Mahogany neck through-- pretty cool stuff.

I have to add that if anyone ever asks for a sparkle finish again they should read this post by BP:

And, if they ask for it a second time, they have to have that tattooed on their back.

You guys (Balls, et al) rule. I don't think I can say it any clearer than that.

I saw a pic of that bass with the p/up that looks like a Bongo p/up. I asked Dudley about it, and he told me we have not put a Bongo p/up in anything but a Bongo, and we were both stumped as to what was installed in that bass.

i was actually wondering why they didn't attempt a 2 pickup stingray again. and i guess this explains a lot. the sabre really couldn't be played above the 10th fret?!

Here are the new bass models:
If we have to rout diffferently I think that they are different models......

2 Humbucking Stingray...the neck pickup is going to be really cool.
1 Humbucking Stingray/1 Single coil Stingray

2 humbucking Stingray 5 ditto the neck pickup
1 Humbucking Stingray 5/ 1 single coil

2 Humbucking Sterling
1 Humbuckinga Stelring 1 single coil

These will be available both righty and lefty and fretted fretless

Lefty 2h , 1h1s, and single hum LEFTY Bongo.

These will be also be available fretless.

Let the games begin.

BP

Posts not thinking that these are new models will be ignored.

There is a lot of engineering involved in these....we are not just slapping pickups off the shelf. They will be balanced tonally. The problem with just slapping a Stingray pick up in the neck position is that the magnets are so big andthe magnetic pull so string that they actually affect the strings vibration. That is one of the reasons that we discontinued the original Leo Sabre. You couldn't play it above the tenth fret on the low E
To not consider these new models are really not giving Dudley, myself and the rest of the R&D staf much credit.

Darg what did I leave out?

BP
Hmmm,I can play my 79 ( Leo ) Sabre all the way to the 20th fret, anyway it's good to see that they are trying to do different things with the Ray. Now if EB can do something about the g-string slipping off the fingerboard, and hopefully give it a wider string spacing, then it will be a nice piece

I think it would be real nice if they offered it without a pickguard, and also offered a piezo bridge as an option. It would be intresting to say the least

I don't think the design of the SR5 is going to change because a couple of people say the G string falls off the edge. There are thousands out there, and if it was something other than a technique problem we would be the first to know about it. IMO

I didn't mention anything about them changing the design of the bass, what I said is it would be nice if they could adress the slippage of the g-string off the fingerboard

My point was that there are a few people complaining about it. There are thousands more that are not.

I'll be the one to say it , since nobody else will say it.

It's your technique buddy. YOU HAVE BAD TECHNIQUE. That is why the string slips off. It isn't because of some flaw with the Stringray 5.

Deal
