So I finally got the whole of the Blue Bomber, and here is the report:

One of the best Bongos I've played, right up there with GreyDads 4H and the DG I used to own.
Single H means I had to use the eq on the bass, just a tiny bit of bass added.
If Maddog Tom ever wants it back I'll consider an offer, but apart from that scenario I think the BB is a keeper.

Lol yeah the bucket is sweet:)
The blackstar is still a guitar amp (HT5 /w 212 box, 5w of great sound), I was playing through the old Trace Elliot on the opposite side of the stage, but as that didn't handle the B string too well I had my bass mostly in the monitor bins.

I'll start. :D

I sold it because I realized that I prefer dual pickup Bongos. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool bass but I always had to bump the lows and roll off some highs to get a sound I liked. On the other hand, I just plug in my HH/HS Bongos and they sound right to me. I also wanted to try a HH Ray 5. I sold the Blue Bomber to Rex and bought the Black Cherry Burst Ray 5 I still own to this day.

The reason I sold it was because it was a 5er. I experimented, found I prefer 4 bangers and let 'er go. I miss 'er at times though.

Glad to see she made it to a gig!

I sold it because:

a. It was my "other" single H Bongo 5.

b. I have a Dargie single H Bongo 5 on the way.

c. Strummer bugged the living bejeezus out of me to sell it to him.

It's a good, solid bass. We had one of our little BassFests over here a while back and the Bomber was the designated jam bass in the studio. Everyone who played it fell in love with it. I practiced with it, played it live and was always happy with it.

And I'm really glad it's in Sweden, like so many of my other basses!

Wair a second, Jack.

Didn't he buy it from me?

I thought I traded you Heinz back for the Bomber, and I just hadn't picked it up yet.

I get confused.

b. I have a Dargie single H Bongo 5 on the way.

Wait, you're right, he did buy it from you, only you never had it, I think, or something like that.

Talk about confusing.

So, Rex traded you Heinz back for the Blue Bomber and now Magnus will now have both?

I think Rex has owned more basses that he's never seen than I've owned basses. Oh, and the Dargie finally shipped today. I'll shoot you a tracking number in a little bit.

The latter half of that statement is almost certainly true. I think. As for how the Heinz/Bomber deal went, I just can't remember.

Andrew had Heinz. Rex bought it but then found out I wanted it back and he doesn't play fivers anyway, so I traded him....the Blue Bomber? This makes no sense, as the BB is a fiver, but then it doesn't really have to make sense, I bet. And I don't even know if it's true to begin with, but it was something like that. Rex might know.

At some point, Rex really did have the Bomber in his possession - I know this because he was the one what dinged it good.

Then I got it back? I must have, because I sent it to Magnus in little pieces.

Have I had it twice? No, surely not. Unless I have.

....and the Dargie finally shipped today. I'll shoot you a tracking number in a little bit.

Excellent! I've never owned THAT one before!

Well, all I know is I paid Rex, so I am fairly certain he owned it. I remember paying you for the shipping Jack, and I just remembered I have some stuff to send you too. But I need to know how tall that hansome kid of yours is, mkay?

Doesn't look at all bad even for a Swede :)

It's lineage is... interesting... not that I followed any of what Jack and the guys said about it's history :D

I've been playing my Bongo 4H with my new band recently and found I like it set how Mingus described, boost the bass and lower the highs a bit, get a lovely bitey growl like that.

I need a 5 now though, I've got some songs I've written around the B. I have my Ray5 but keep wondering what a Bongo would sound like.
