Here are a few images of some Bongo 6 prototypes that Jon and Dudley have been working on. Jon will post some tidbits for you guys when he gets a chance.

Only at Ernie Ball do you get to see the designs as they're spit out of the computer! This is the first rendering of the new Bongo6. We've put all of the virtual pieces together to see how they look so that we can tweak the design to our liking before we actually cut wood.

This first design is taken almost directly from the original Bongo 4 and 5, with some minor adjustments for the super-wide 6-string neck. We've added the 6th machine head, sticking with our trademark 4+2 design.

More to come...

You know, Ive never really wanted a 6 string, BUT my band is doing a real jazzy bluesy thing right now, and its been requested that I incorporate some chordal work as well.

This Bongo 6 idea is growing on me at a rapid rate of speed.

Kewl!

Makes me wonder about the balance issues that arise from designing a 6...on the one hand, you've got a lot more mass at the headstock end (more neck, another tuner, a little bit from the string), but on the other hand you've got bigger/heavier pickups and hardware at the body end.

Must be a challenge to get it right!

oh hellz ya!

one question....... oil/wax finished neck??

:D :D :D

that is a thing of beauty, the Bongo shape really lends itself to any number strings. although it looks like a nice aircraft carrier deck of a neck it still has all of the ergonomics in place... dang purdy!

...and I like the 4+2 , savvy

I actually saw Jack play a 6 string this weekend. Fretless even.

Looks great. Is it too early to start asking questions about neck width, scale length, etc?

I hope we'll see JM playing one of these later on this year! Not holding my breath, but a guy can dream! (no pun intended) :p
